Guys,

Quick question that I am unsure of the answer to. I have a comp on Sunday, and will be playing my FTiQ I-mix with my new ProLaunch Red shaft. The only problem I have is that when I tried it out a couple of weeks ago the shaft started to come loose on the head after about five hits. I tightened it with the wrench and it was ok for the rest of the round.

So, my question is, if this happened during a competition round, would I be OK to tighten the shaft with the wrench? I am thinking the answer is yes, but wondered if anyone had any differing thoughts?

Cheers,
Redwood.

Hi,
You can repair get a club repaired if it is damaged during normal pay so would have to say yes as long as you put it back on the same setting.

Mike-J is right as long as you do not alter the setting you can re-tighten the club. I would inform your playing partners though just to be above board.

Redwood id be slightly cautious of the PTFE tape....
The only problem i see with this is if you put too much on then the thread wont seat fully in the reciever and you risk it being too loose and could end up over-tightening and damaging it for good.....
My fix would be a very small amount of thread lock a day or two before the comp....This will keep it tight enough so as not to get loose but in the event of you wanting to tinker with it, it will easily unscrew.....

If I had to administer anything like this to a golf club, I would take it back or bin it.

I was thinking the same, either the club is knackered or the shaft OR you simply didn't tighten it enough. Apparently if you really catch several scorchers in a row right off the toe end of the club you can loosen it a millifraction although hopefully I'll never find that out. No problems with mine thus far, never tightened it since I bought it. I'd be tempted to take it to a Callaway opti-fit pro shop.
