Having just gone through a marriage break up, one of the things that keept me going was my golf and in paticular the local Winter league.

A great day out somewhere with 11 other lads taking my mind off my probs having a bit of banter and having something other than all the crap that was going on. Those days were very important looking back as they bound me together with other people whan i could have sat at home on my own.

Now with all that in mind (am i am not of course putting myself in the position of TW)would him going to the RC be good for him and make him produce some good golf.

Did not Michelle Wie have a similar experiance of the Solheim Cup, bonding her to her team rather than be the insular lady she had become, cutt off a bit by her Dad??

What do we all think

Not being funny, but I doubt that the RC would be 'a great day out with the banter' for Tiger.

It's his job, not a hobby. I think Tiger has been Tiger for too long to suddenly become one of the lads.

He should play at the Ryder Cup, I think it could do him some good, if he will only lighten up and smile a bit more. It might just make him realise how social and enjoyable golf can be.

Golfmmad.

In my opion its better for him to miss it. Being in teh spot light the pressure will be huge and the critics will drag up any dirt they can in order to justify a poor appearence other than being off form.

whether we like it or not any pro athlete has other things in their life except their sport, and they need to get this right to get in the right frame of mind.

I can understand joe public looking for releif from their problems, we all do it on a day to day basis, but a world mega star #1 having crap dragged through the media ontop of the pressure of bad form is a nightmere, but this is just my opinion.

He's better out of the media spotlight for now, he has nothing to gain coming to Wales and a fair bit to lose if he reacts to heckling and innuendo from the Euro galleries. 2012 RC is back in the US and all the private life stuff will have been forgotten about. He'd be better waiting for that one if he's at all bothered about playing it, which we all know he isn't.

I think he should write off the rest of the season after the USPGA, take another break to sort out once and for all his personal life, spend loads of time with his kids, and then start again next year.

Playing golf clearly isn't helping him at the moment, and he's obviously not enjoying playing. Actually losing the No.1 spot may be a blessing for him in the long run in that it will help him focus on his game.

Personally, I don't think he'll win another major, but it will be interesting to see what he'll do after next week. He'd be mad to even think about playing in the Ryder Cup.

His latest spate of poor form is totally intentional. Wants to be seen as human in order to regain his idolators.

He will gain sweet FA by playing at CM and I actually doubt Pavin will want him anyway...the aura has gone from him at the moment and I would be licking my chops if I was drawn against him.

If I was him I would hang my clubs up now and dust them down next year but I bet you he still thinks he can turn it around and win this week. That is the attitude that has taken him to number 1 but I just can't see it happening.

Jack in,call Butch Harmon up and set about getting back to something close to where had his game 2000.

I suspect the worst thing that could happen for Tiger might involve positive paternity tests and his children being moved out of America.

Judging from history TW couldnt give 2 hoots for the RC.

Edgey

the title of the thread implies a different question thatn you actually posed.

Good for his game - shouldn't make an iota of difference
Good for TW - much more difficult. If he could lighten up (no not Michael Jackson) possibly, if he can't then no; and I don't think he can.

Hey Dodger I agree with you he needs to give Butch a call

Quote: It's been a long year. I think that sums it up. The guy has been a naughty boy with no respect for his marriage that's now a fact. He needs to make the break and end the marriage if he is ever to regain his golf again. On the other hand not unlike Micheal Jackson he may just be sick of who he is and the continual circus that surrounds him. Either way as far as the Ryder Cup is concerned I don't care if he plays or not I just want him to get his head back and make the best decision for himself and his future. Tiger is my golfing hero and always will be.

Butch has openly stated he will not coach Tiger again.

Yes I heard that but can you really see Butch turning down the chance to be the one to make Tiger great again

I think the USTeam will be more dangerous without him to be honest, I doubt that all would welcome him into the fold.

I dont think Pavin will pick him anyway, its just too much of a gamble.

Me, - well,......most of you know what I think..........

I disagree with the majority. The beauty of the RC is that its matchplay and to be honest in 4BBB it would give Woods carte blanche to swing how he likes. If he was anywhere near decent he'd be a handful and even if he is a bit wayward he would still have opportunities to post the par first. I wouldn't risk him in the foursomes and with a bit of canny planning he could pull a rookie in the singles who would be under a heap of pressure especially if the match overall was close
