World Record - 14 Under Par!!

Great score but as the course is only 6443yds it is hardly Carnoustie.
Lots of short par 4's.

having played the course a lot, inc last year with oddsocks in the Surrey Tour event, whilst it's short in places the nature of the holes doesn't make them driveable (mature tree lined doglegs in many cases) and there are also some really tough holes. when I first saw the article the course was not one that sprang to mind as a likely venue!

Makes no odds if it's 7443 or 6443, he shot 59, 14 under par. I can't imagine what he felt like playing the last hole knowing a par or birdie bags a 59. Just cos it's not the 'tour' length course it doesn't diminish the fact that he shot the score he did. Well played I say and good on him.

I've just signed up to play here (the Drift) in the work society a week monday. Will be nice to have something to aim for...

Is it a good course/in good nick as a rule?

Are you sure this is a world record? I'm sure that I saw a press release that said that the North Korean president/dictator (or whatever he's called) had shot a round of 18 - hole in 1 on every hole including the Par 5's.

I saw that - guess verification will be tricky now he is pushing up daisies - but his legacy will live on

This guy's record is the best in a tournament. Kim Jong Il's record still stands in a non-competitive round (although there are some, including Guinness, who believe that Rhein Gibson's 55 is the official record).

P.s. Kim Jong-Il did not claim to have shot 18. That would be ridiculous! He shot 34 (38 under par). I for one believe him. Anyone who can control the weather with his mood can surely control a golf ball for 4 hours.

And shooting a 34 wouldn't be ridiculous? It's ok though because he's dead now so unless you are posting from north Korea I think it's ok to suggest it didn't happen. If you are posting from North Korea then obviously I agree with you and his round of 34 DEFINITELY did happen.

I guess that I should have mentioned that I was being sarcastic. I don't actually believe that he shot 34. I do however believe that he could control the weather with his mood (or am I being sarcastic again? I'll let you decide...).
