With two guesses left it still could have been found, wound, bound or hound. I guessed found without thinking about it, but if I'd have put 'whiff' in it would have either given me a yellow letter, or no yellows and I'd know it was bound.

Which is why you should use hard mode. You wouldn't be able to do that! You have to gamble! I had a 50:50 today for guess 6 and nailed it! 185 streak continues!

But I actually enjoy that strategy side of it rather than blindly guessing. Coming up with a completely separate word that eliminates 3 or 4 letters is fun tactical part of the game. If you remove that, yes it makes it harder, but it also removes an element from it and reduces it imo.
 
Slightly different approach to how I use the letters of my standard 2nd word…with little bit more luck I would have had a 3…
