Hmm, sounds familiar, a lay off!

If I was buying now (new woods) I'd look no further than something square (either Nike Sq dymo, or Wilson Staff Spine, MD superstrong (good value also), or similar).

I'm a total convert to the voodoo that is square... :)

However, I won't be trading my TaylorMade 3 wood and Callaway 5 wood just yet.....I actually rather like being able to hit a guaranteed fade with these on l-r holes.

What are you after.....bargain new, good quality 2nd hand, big name sticks, what d'you think?

Old Callaway stuff (steelhead II or warbird) is dirt cheap and excellent i.m.o. TaylorMade R5 and R7 woods are also pretty reasonably priced.

I guess the questions are

What standard are you
What budget do you have
Do you want new or 2nd hand
What sort of shots are you looking to hit.

As with most clubs there are a myriad of choices and the best way certainly for new clubs is to ask your pro for advice and try some out on the practice ground. If your pro hasn't got that much variety try and find an American Golf (or similar retailer) ideally with a range instead of an in-store bay so you can actaully see the flight of the ball as you hit it. Try different head shapes (square etc) and shafts until you find something you are comfy with

Homer.....if I'm getting on really well with my driver and hybrid and they have the same shaft, do you think the MD square fairway woods might be worth a try?

http://www.nevadabobs.co.uk/Golf-Clubs/Fairway-Woods/3scid/4999prodid.asp

These look really good at under £70.

Might be an interesting choice for someone looking for fairway clubs. I had an MD rescue, which I liked, but the Prolaunch Blue never quite did it for me.

Prolaunch = Grafalloy
Proforce = UST (V2)

They look decent enough. Never tried them so can't really comment. I'm always a try before you buy merchant and so I'd need to smack a few balls before I'd part with any cash. I do have a certain dislike of square headed woods but can tolerate drivers and understand the technology and thought behind them. I've hit a Cally square and once you get over the initial look of club behind ball it does produce some good results. As for square fairway woods, not my bag, but I'm sure they could help some golfers immensely

£60 quid each for 3 and a 5 Ben Sayers Benny - so you'll have ten quid change. I absolutely love mine - the Benny driver got great reviews, but I think the fairway woods are even better.

That is a top idea. Benny driver is great (with a proper shaft too!) and if the woods are £60, that is a good deal.
I've not seen them for less than £79 I must say.
