Won my own Open today

Well done Rick, thats a cracking effort.

The competition is a good idea too.

I lost about 80 pounds on Saturday - Waterproof Trou, GPS and a couple of R1 adapters!

Who shrunk the Clare Jug?

Well done all the same! You must delegate extremely well!

Your course sounds tough as nails!!!

As confirmed by Fundy, it certainly is.....I've added the scoresheet from the medal Sunday so you can see the gross scores. There's some half decent handicaps in there too (scratch player shooting 8 over for example).
I've removed the names to protect the innocent :) mines the position 1 score (nett 77)

This comp was played off the black tees at around 7,100 yards and is par 72 SSS 74. This comp the CSS went to 77 and reductions only. There were no handicap cuts.

I gave it a good go off the Amethyst tees when I was only using my 3w to drive and we won the Invitation Day, would be interesting to take it on a little further back now I drive with the big boys

its the elephant in the room so I have to ask, why were there so few competitors?
Apart from when I played at Gleneagles (comps had avg 55 competitors) everything I play in has 130+ even the invitation last week had 284:eek:

Whys it the elephant in the room? Without answering fully for Rick the main answer will be based upon how many members it has, its aim is for a bit more exclusivity than having comps for 200+ runners.

Personally would hate to be at a club that had 100s of runners in every comp and not sure that many clubs down here do (albeit some do i know)

it's a well known phrase for something obvious that no-one mentions, surprised you didn't know that.

There are many clubs vying for 'exclusivity' with a lot of members:mmm:

geez CMAC, I know what the phrase means, I didnt understand why you thought it applied when you saw the results sheet

lol sorry, you asked so thought you didnt know.

It was from the OP, 28 players. I was used to low numbers at the club within Gleneagles but we had 3 clubs there all with about 80 members.

I used to feel a bit underwhelmed if I won something there (and I did sometimes:smirk:) when there was a low turnout, maybe just me.

CMAC,
The club just celebrated it's first birthday on the 1st July, so very new and not a lot of members yet, ( although they are ahead of their predicted target). In addition 95% of members are also members at other clubs. Until the SSS gets sorted, a lot of them are playing their comps at their other clubs.

26 entrants was actually quite high for a comp, especially a medal format off the black tees, but it wasn't unusual to have no handicap cuts. A guy the other day had 39 points off the silvers (6850 yards) and didn't get a cut (CSS went down 1 and SSS 2 below par).

Hope that helps to explain.....

I won a Tuesday medal over the PGA (2014 Ryder cup course) from the back tees. My playing partner was second, there were 2 entrants:eek:
