last sunday i played in my normal 3-ball. i signed the h/cap book in the pro shop before leaving and ended up scoring 94, 3 under my h/cap. im off 27.4 and par 71 course. i have had a look at my h/cap cert online it says it was updated yesterday, but im still off 27.4! a, is this correct and b, if not, what should my h/cap now be?
wasnt sure if putting in a supplementary can be used during winter rules as you get preferred lies etc, but thought Russell the pro would have said something.........
by the way, started par, par!!best start to a round! ended up with 3 or 4 pars and a birdie!BOSH!!!

I do not think that you can have your H/cap altered using winter conditions because you are playing from forward tees that have never had a SSS calculated from so nothing to work out your h/cap from. That is not even taking preferred lies into the equation.

Preferred lies have no impact, rounds are admissable under CONGU rules with preferred lies in place. The issue will be if you have winter tees or greens which shorten the course more than 100 yards.

Alternatively, was there a comp on that day and CSS was -3?

hi, no comp that day! we are still using normal greens and tees!

il be honest, i dont know!or even where i would find out!

It will be on the scorecard - usually top right corner or something it will give the SSS "number" which may be less than par although not usually 3 shots - or at least I don't think so...

I think that handicaps are based upon that rather than par when no CSS (Competition Scratch Score) to go by.

Either way you scored great, played great and they can't take that away from you :)

So 94 less 27 handicap = nett 67 and I would have thought a 4 "shot" cut so therefore 1.6 off ??

ah, i hope so!!! its frustrating when you know your better than you h/cap says!! i just want to get it as low as i can!!!! i think 3 or 4 pars and a birdie shows potential!haha

Just to be absolutely clear:
1. By signing the handicap book, that is your club's procedure for intention to submit a Supplementary.
2. You played off the normal white tees to normal greens (i.e. full length course)
3. Your card was annotated as a Supplementary and was correctly marked and signed by a marker and yourself.
4. You submitted the card in the manner laid down by your club.

If those are all correct, then the card should be actioned by your club as a Supplementary and your handicap should reduce by 1.6.

Ask the question.

Winter rules not wintrr conditions.i.e pick and place. As long as the course is not more than 100yds shorter than the measured length then it counts, preferred lies or not. I believe you can even have up to 2 temporary greens although I'm not sure if this means the ones we have on the fairway or actual proper greens.

Maybe you are just a little impatient. You played on Sunday, I assume you posted your card afterwards. You posted here on Tuesday.

It may be possible that your handicap secretary only looks at posted cards once a week or so and has not got around to checking yours yet.

Maybe you will have an answer by now?
