Winter matts

Interesting that different mats promote different launch conditions. Is each player limited to using just one mat per round?

We're allowed to drop 2 metres from the fairway, if you don't wish to use a mat.
Only problem is, come start of the season if you land 2 metres of the fairway, you'll most likely be in an old divot.

that's why we went to mats in the first place, prev was drop to the side. we had a couple of really mild winters when lots more members played during the winter.....result .. first cut destroyed.

Strictly no. But the standard mats are rectangular so the long side can assist in lining up.

...As can the pile.

For all the nah sayers, played at Hollinwell yesterday and the grass on their fairways was seriously short so on most fairways from driver distance it was compulsory to use the mats and it was far more pleasurably playing off them than it would have been of the fairway.
