I knew the owner when it was built,
I remember walking the site with the plans and putting in my tuppence worth.

I think he still lives in the house that you can see from holes 3, 4 & 5 - nice looking house!

Was that Windermere?? 9 holes. 2 sets of tees from memory. That was mid 80s

That's the one - used to have the pylons running round the edge and at least 1 hole had the cables going across the fairway. Was a good fun little course though.
Also had the covered range - lost the head of my 7 iron hitting balls on the range. The club suddenly felt very light after impact

If you follow the thread it is probably a false interpretation of what went on. I had assumed that they sold Windermere to the school (when I looked at the map some time ago) and relocated the course.

I was surprised to see the comment that it had simply closed down as it used to be absolutely rammed.

Pretty sure Windlesham Golf Course did not exist when I lived there.

If you follow the thread it is probably a false interpretation of what went on. I had assumed that they sold Windermere to the school (when I looked at the map some time ago) and relocated the course.

I was surprised to see the comment that it had simply closed down as it used to be absolutely rammed.

Pretty sure Windlesham Golf Course did not exist when I lived there.

Not surprised that the original one was so successful.
I remember saying to the owner that his hardest task will probably be sitting in that chair and counting the money. { and buy a big safe.}

I left Knaphill 39 years ago so my memory of it not being there is at least right.

I did not know that they built a new one on another site.

Idly pondering this and realised my first game there was in 1977, the year I started playing. I was living in Guildford at the time and my neighbour invited me for a game there.

I’ve played it twice in the last three months and was in vgc with no drainage issues, but it’s also not been that wet recently!

I was at Puttenham from 1975 to 1979 so might have bumped into you

I only played Puttenham a couple of times both after 1979 and also Guildford early 80s. In that area most of my golf was played at Alton.

Thought so. I didn't play as I've played there many times and thought if numbers were tight it should go to someone who has come a long way for H4H
