My only issue is the way the subscription is presented. My mum buys me my subscription for xmas but has often commented that there is nothing to actually 'give' as the present. Maybe a box with a GM pitchmark repairer and ball marker with a subscription or renewal, just something that can be handed over on xmas/birthday or whatever. It may sound twee, but surely I am not the only one who gets the subscription as a present and not the only one with a mother who likes something to wrap and hand over.

Hi Greg
the gift subscription and how to present it is something we have had comments about before
Lovely idea though the ball marker/pitchmark repairer is, the costs to produce and then to send them would be prohibitive especially as most gift subscriptions are sold at a very heavily discounted price or come with free balls (although they dont get sent out before the 1st issue so same problem)
from annecdotal evidence those gifting the subscription often buy a copy of the mag and wrap it up with a card saying something like 'Happy Xmas you'll be getting a year of GM (the issue on sale in December is always one of our best sellers as a result!). Appreciate if its a renewal this doesnt work either
anyway, thanks for flagging will certainly bring this up at the next group meeting

My only issue is digital subscribers miss out on the free gifts that are found with a new magazine
Hi LP
I havent seen any brands offer gifts with digital subscriptions - interested to hear about the one your OH gets so I can investiage further
I know the main reason we dont do it on iPad as we dont take the transaction and with it the subscriber data (Apple own it and dont pass on to us due to data protection law) so dont know who subscribes
We used to offer a bundled subscription whereby you could buy print and digital and then got any gifts with the print one (also did a version where if you bought a print sub you automatically got free digital) but those have stopped. TBH i dont know why. again will raise when I get the chance

Whilst I agree, I would possibly say that the digital subscription is also slightly cheaper, some of which would be the saving of not having to print copies of the magazine, but this must just be part of the deal of receiving the digital copy. I could be wrong though!

what few folk realise is that digital products are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate whereas print products are Zero VATable - in crude terms that accounts for the single copy price being £4.99 vs £4.40 for print
it is true that we dont have to pay for print, paper and distribution but have had to invest heavily in the technology/software to produce tablet editions and the time taken to convert print into tablet and produce the digital content (videos and galleries) for the enhanced issue all comes at a cost
apple also takes a 30% cut of the price which are fairly punchy terms

However, despite the above, I do feel we should be cheaper on digital as thats the expctation from users. I managed to persuade my bosses to do a 99p trial on the June issue and are running a special £1.99 offer on the new issue with Rory on the cover thats available to download from tomorrow

The 99p one sold a lot more than regular price issues and if they 1.99 one does too then thats good ammo for my argument to bring the price down long term

Completed but it took a bit longer than 10 mins !!

Always good to give some feedback.

Sorry the 10 mins was based on what it took me and as I knew all the questions (as I set them!) and didnt put any free text answers in and I rattled through it in 8 mins
perhaps 15 is more realistic?
anyway appreciate the time taken by everyone who has responded and indeed posted here. many thanks

ps apologies for any typos etc in my replies - trying to crack through a few so not checking too hard!

Done, on the gear you play or played you couldn't select both have and had. Only slight flaw and it took longer than ten mins!
for the purposes of this survey own now and used to own put you into one group and thats fine for purposes of what we need to know!
if you owned in past but dont own now then again that puts you in a differnet group that is shown in the data
again apols it took longer than the 10 mins

No probs mike! Time wasn't really an issue and I put a text comment on all answers so prob made it longer! On the gear side my current and past drivers were callaway so was wondering if it messed with your data but obviously not.

Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work!

I completed the survey yesterday, although it took a little while to complete mainly because I put a few comments on some answers.

Im definitely going to buy this months magazine, I think it sounds good value for money.

I would like to get a digital version for my I pad but it looks like I could miss out on some of the. Freebies, shame. :(

Did the survey but it didn't give me anywhere to say who I was so can't see me winning anything!
Good survey though and quite enjoyed thinking about the magazine in a little more detail than usual.

Just got the same on the computer. Maybe we took too long doing it!
