Why Don't Driver Shafts Have The Lenght Measurement on Them

May sound silly but when looking for a driver the first bit of info I want is the shaft length. I lose control with the current longer shafted models and know that I play best with a 44 inch shaft (as fitted as standard in an FT-5). Problem is this info is not easily available even on the web sites and I am not about to walk around AG with a tape measure. I have seen shafts with all sorts of figures printed on the side so why not the standard length?

Basically because a 44 inch shaft could play as a 46" shaft in another head due to the size of bore or hosel.

I couldn't agree with you more. Clearly the reply re; length after fitting to the head is totally relevant....but I don't see why there can't be a universal system.

I'm surprised the FT-5 has a 44".....my FT-3 has a 45" and is comparatively short. Pings are up to 45.75 or more, and some Taylor Made are 47".

It's all a bit like lofts on irons....some drivers are getting crazy length, clearly IF you can hit your TM 47" it's going to get more clubhead speed than a 44"

I don't see why the "total" distance from the sole (middle of face, at the bottom) to top of grip can't be measured.
