Why do some US GOLF fans constantly persist by shouting

Why do US fans persist in this stupid bloody "Get in the hole!!!" nonsense?

Quite simply because they are a bunch of retards.

If i was stood next to someone at a tournament who shouted that, i swear i would beat them senseless.

It needs to stop!

Not playing devils advocate here as I don't particularly like to hear those silly chants either BUT none of the players in the US seem to mind, their commentators never mention it or moan about it. I think they just accept that some more exuberant spectators like to let off some steam. As long as they're quiet during the actual swing then it doesn't seem to matter.

I know golf isn't a rowdy game but a bit of noise and excitement as we witnessed at The Masters for example certainly does add to the drama.

As long as it doesn't start here and stays in the US then it's not that big a deal is it? Yanks are different to us, surely we should be able tolerate differences in different nationalities and how they behave and not expect everyone to be as repressed as us Brits.

Quiet during the shot is key, afterwards a bit of silly noise isn't so bad I dont think. :)

You dont think it will be copied over here in Britain?
Why not, we seem to copy everything else they do and that includes their language :(

No I don't think we will, we are and will always be too reserved a people for that kind of out and out exuberance unless we're drunk of course then anything goes :o.
'You da man' or 'Birdie time' or 'get in the hole' in a regional UK accent on a breezy seaside course just doesn't seem to work somehow. :p

We used to copy American things but I don't think we do anymore.

Ok Birdieman, check this out.....
'I'm just popping down to shopping mall to check out the video store to rent a movie'.
He's minus 2 thru 6 after picking up birdies at 2 and 4
Starts Tuesday at 9
I'm hitting it real solid

:( :( :( :( :(
And have you seen the way kids dress today?
Rant over.........unless you know more?

I heard a "get in the hole" shout at The Open in 2006 at Hoylake. Dont think i've heard one since. I distinctly remember it though as the commentator at the time made a massive issue out of it along the lines of 'i hope its not starting over here' type thing....thankfully, it hasnt!

Yet!

I know. :(
Those so-called grumpies you see on that TV programme haven't got a patch on me.
Just dont get me started on Ewan Murray and 'the Colonel'
:D
Or Steve Wright !!!
Or 'Because you're worth it'
Or 'Have you been in an accident in the last 5 years?'
Or 'you can consolidate your loans'

I need to get out more :D

Ok Bob, you dont happen to live near one of those US airbases like Lakenheath do you?
I've never heard anyone up here in Scotland speak like that. More like -
I'm off to the shops and I might rent a DVD.
He's 2 under after 6 after picking up birdies at the 2nd and 4th.
Starts Tuesday at 9 ???? I don't see why that's American?
I'm hitting it really well.

If anyone up here spoke like you're saying we speak they'd get the piss taken so badly they've never come back to the golf club!! :p

Kids always wear silly clothes - I expect your generation were the first to wear flares and converse baseball boots and god forbid Nicklaus style Rupert the Bear golfing slacks. :D

You can just about put up with it on par 3's, where it may actually 'get in the hole'. But these numptys are shouting on the par 4&5 tees.
Role on The Open, where a bit of decorum will ensue.

Don't delude yourself, they were at the Open last year.

sorry birdie, but I think you're way too late. It is here and has been for some time. True you are unlikely to hear it at most European PGA events but I guarantee you'll hear it at The Open and most definitely at the Ryder Cup.

I even heard it at The Belfry on the Masters practice day!
