Why are "bounce" games....

Come on someone. What does this silly expression mean.

Second that.... I've never heard the term "bounce game" locally and I assume they are regional expressions. I'm assuming it's just a game with mates etc ? Another one is the "rabbits" section. What is that all about ?

Could it be from the practice of throwing balls in the air and seeing where they "bounce" to determine who you play with?

From the ancient Latin

Bouncario

Meaning

' The easiest way to get money out of Smiffy '

;)

Yeah.
Like you ever have
   :D

Only coz you only play posh games with decent players.

I said ages ago I want a cheap and cheerful game against the lads at Jamie's place, or Chartham Park or somewhere.

But noone wants to take my money

:p

Homer, they're not the same,

A bounce game is a casual knock among friends, non qualifying. That term is used is several sports.

A roll up is a qualifying comp where you turn up and draw partners there and then.

Because some backward folks can't just say 'i went out for a game today' they need to embelish it with a daft expression.

Hi from Sri Lanka, not impressed so far! They do a decent coffee though.

Not at my place. We have roll ups at weekends where anyone is free to join in. Balls in the hat and drawn for partners. Not an official competition and not a qualifier for handicaps

So that would be a roll-up then? A bounce game is a friendly knock without card in hand amongsy your mates.

No bothered about semantics but if you all turn up put balls in a hat and play for a few quid it's a roll up as in roll up and take your chances. A bounce game is a few mates arranging a game together at a set time

If you organise something at Chartham Park or Copthorne I'll be there (if I can). I came to that course near Westerham, didn't I????
You could have made Cooden. Hardly posh. First mentioned on 4th March. Surely you could have put a few bob aside each week to have made it if you'd really wanted Clive?
Copthorne and Chartham are two of my favourite local courses so I have no problem going to either of them mate.

If I didn't have HID, the mortgage arrears, a couple of outstanding old bills, a poooeee job, etcetcetc I could have made it.

I have to have a fix sometimes, and can justify £20 now and then to stop me going mad. But £65 a day, even though it was great value, is basically too much to sneak in one go - that's 3 normal rounds init.

If my company hadn't given me a pay cut, I'd have maybe put more effort into justifying it as well.

Not complaining too much - at least my boss ( now bosses tbh - you try answering to two guys - 1 who is sales based, and one who is admin based, about how to best fill a 40 hour week, even though you only worked nearly 60 hours every week since Easter ) doesn't drive me to planning complex murder routines.

You see, I can sneak away for half a day here and there, once a blue moon, and noone notices, but taking a full day off - tricky when the boss ( HID this time ) wants to go away with her parents for a week soon. ( Their treat I hope ).

Ok, so I'm a wimp, and under the thumb.

And I let my bosses walk all over me.

:p
