You mean apart from the figures that show spending on the NHS has increased year on year not only during the recent Conservative government but also previously during the Labour governments? Apart from that then I guess that I have nothing substantive (not substantial) to back that up. But if you Google total NHS spending year on year you will be able to see the increases. They've even got easy to understand graphs for the hard of thinking.

I work with the NHS (management consultancy) and I can confirm the spending on the NHS is actually higher than it's ever been. The problem with the NHS is the extra pressure being placed upon it with record numbers of patients, but also huge inefficient practices within NHS trusts in general. There is so much wastage it's crazy. None of that will really change with even more money pumped in, it will just increase wastage.

Is that the same confusion were the tories have promised to increase NHS spending year on year to 2022 whilst at the same time the NHS being told to reduce costs by £20bn by 2020, giving with one hand and taking away with the other.
No confusion at all. Funding has risen year on year. Costs should always be kept under control especially where there are high levels of wasted funding. That's the way any successful business works.

Finally someone who gets it. The savings targets were to reduce wastage. Labour wasted huge amounts of money within the NHS, I could name some key areas, but some people only read what ever suits their views

But is it a "record number of patients" or is it a record number of morons that don't realise that their sprained ankle could be treated at home with a bag of frozen peas or their "flu-like symptoms" could be treated with lemsip. We need to educate these idiots that A&E is for accidental and emergencies not ingrowing toe nails and GPs aren't for coughs and colds.

Or just give them £20Bn less over the period and still look for credit at how much they're getting.

They aren't getting 20bn less. They are getting a year on year increase, they are being asked to reduce inefficiencies. A lot of the trusts I work with have huge wastage and will hit their savings target easily. That money is then funnelled through to patient care

What a surprise a simple poll of who you will vote for has degraded to the same level as all the other political threads and it's no surprise it's the same poster at the heart of it posting derogatory comments towards people

I think you will find the debate has been quite sensible other than one posters crude attempts at put downs.
