who is the worst major winner?

I love this. A bunch of stir-crazy average handicap golfers calling Major winning professionals choppers.
To win any pro comp you need luck. Lots of it. A bad bounce here and there and its gone. To win a Major you need even more.
Talk about the luckiest Major winner by all means but the worst ?
Perleese. You can't play bad golf and win a Major.

Pretty crap career record NOT! Not even mentioning joint top points winner 1999 Ryder Cup, from a crap player??? Get a grip!

ZZRe: who is the worst major winner?

Craw, who said he was crap though?
I said he was disappointing since his major, I'm sure he would agree that his career didn't hit the launchpad in the same way others did or perhaps he just isnt destined for greatness in the same way Woods, Nicklaus, Palmer etc, even Duval who was world no 1, fell to ruins but is building it back up. Lawrie just seems to be plodding along. As I said earlier, it's an opinion, one player that sticks out in my mind as a guy that never rode his success enough to get more wins, you mentioned plenty of 6th,7th and 8th places, that'll keep him in jet tickets for a while but who will remember him outside Scotland in 20 years?
I also said there are probably other deserving guys out there who never fully realised their potential.

ZZRe: who is the worst major winner?

Walter Burkemo
Did he win ANYTHING but the Wannamaker in 1953? (because Ben Hogan was at The Open)

Some odd answers there, Duval was a fantastic player in his prime and won dozens of titles.

For me Larry Mize is a good shout, as is Rich Beem and Shaun Micheel.

Understand the Lawrie thing, he's a hard working solid pro but not major-winning quality, yet he did win one - strange!

Lawrie was ranked 159th in the world when he won The Open, the win pushed him up to a career high 30th, and then he slid back down to the hundreds. In the grand scheme of things, he's a chopper

Oh THAT Paul Lawrie ! I was thinking of someone else. Paul Lawrie - the most under rated and deserving major winner of the last 50 years.
