Who did you meet on a Forum day who wasn't what you expected ...or was ?

I played with Smiffy a couple of weeks ago and he never used the word "knob" once. I had met Pieman before and PNWokingham , in his muddy shorts, looked liked a little lost schoolboy.

I have never played with a golfer who is harder on himself than Smiffy. He can swear up a storm about a charged par putt, which is every other hole. He was really polite about me and Rich but Bobmac bore the brunt of the abuse. Loved every minute of it as it was all part of their 36 hole epic.

It's all part of his mind games.
I fell for it last time, actually felt sorry for him, but not this time :)

When people meet me they expect Ross Fisher
Sadly they get Gregor Fisher :(

Can't think of anyone off the top of my head who was overly one way or the other in respect to what I imagined them to be, or not.

One person I was mildly surprised with was TXL - After initially meeting him at his club last year, I got the impression that he was a thoroughly nice, stand up gentleman. Then I was paired with him at Blackmoor last year, although a thoroughly nice bloke the majority of the time, he hands out the abuse and banter like a true veteran of the game (which I've been on the end of more than once!). Two of my most enjoyable rounds of golf have come when paired with him, banter is a huge part of golf for me, so it's great when you can hand out abuse and get it thrown back at you in the next breath, keeps you on your toes....Just don't stand down wind of him (or Rick, or PieMan for that matter!) ;)

Not met any from here - I'm a late comer to forums and the t'interweb.

Looking forward to meeting loads of two headed golfers with swings like an octopus's wrestling match at Woodall.
