The current set I have (Wilson Deep Red II's) only came with a pitching wedge and so i've been using this for pitching, chipping and bunker play, and also using an old 60 deg lob wedge I inherited from an old set.

What do most of you guys on here use, and with so many different brands and degree options, what would be my best combination assuming I keep the PW (48 degree?) and 60 deg lob wedge?

Would a 52 and 56 be a bit too obvious?

I go PW, 52 and 58. The 52 is a good gap degree and the 58 can be opened up easily for flop shots and bunker play.

i go PW, 52 and 56. if find with the 56 its relative easy to open the face as required on certain shots. so dont require any higher lofted club.

Same here 47,52 and 56, in normal conditions i dont need no more loft than that and i feel more comfortable opening my 56 than playing a square shot with my 60

I tend to carry 4 wedges 48, 52, 56 and 60 i find a use the 60 for just shots around the green the 56 out of the bunkers and 3/4 shots and the 52/48 for more full shots.

LMAO

My 60* wedge goes 100 yards. I think its broke or getting above its station :)

Have a look at the Wilson TW9 wedges, they are really nice and have a good range.

Standard pw at 47 with a 51 @ 6* bounce and a 56 @ 10* bounce.

Plenty of options around the green with that combo and enables me to load up at the longer end of the bag

Just gone back to a 4 wedge set up. 47, 50, 54 and 58. The 50 went in the bag, the 3w came out. I use the 50 about 3 times a round, and the 3w once in a blue moon. 50 goes 100 yards with a decent swing. Nice distance to have in the bag.

I carry the standard pitch 48', with MD Seve 52' and 56', in the summer I swap or additionally carry the MD Norman Drew low bounce 52' which can get you out of lots of scrapes around the green.

I have an MD Norman Drew low bounce 50 and vokey spinmill 56. my pw does reside in my bag but rarely gets used. I also have a 58 deg md but have shelved in favour of having both 3 and 5 woods.
The 58 is a handy too but I think that in the hands of anyone but the most proficient low handicappers hands they are a dangerous club that makes you forget the golfers mantra, get it on the green first and worry about accuracy second. The lob wedge gives a false sense of confidence (to us mortals) and if any high single handicapper plus says he is consistently good with it, sir is a liar. they are the hardest club in the bag to hit well of the various lies on which they are used.
