having some really stinky rounds with my mp33 blades it seems like my distance lacks alot thesedays not to mention im hooking it alot, shall i go back to my ben hogan ftx's do you think they will help me

hero to zero these irons or just me !!

I guess a lot depends on what your handicap is, how often you play and practice and what sort of help you expect from Hogans. It sounds to me like a problem in the swing especially if the MP33's have worked in the past and you are losing distance.

Rather than change the club why not get a lesson and see if there is something more basic going wrong

I'm no where good enough to play with blades. Though I did test the MP68's for a bit of a laugh earlier this year.

Generally speaking I could hit a nice little draw with them. But, and it's a biggie. The repeatable distances was shocking. After puting some tape on the face, the reason was obvious. I just wasn't hitting the ikle bitty sweetspot accurately enough, which was giving me the variation in distances. Or at least that's what I put it down to.

I wasn't accurate enough in the ball striking department. Fix. Either get better in that area, (not enough time, finances, or even desire at this level), or find something more forgiving. Which I did.

The MP's were never a serious consideration anyway. But it did prove something to me about my expectations.

Only you can decide which road is best for you.

All the best. Let us know what you decide.

I think blades are a preference, I tried the nike tw blades and they were frickin awesome! I'm off 10 but my ball striking is the best part of my game, so I would def consider blades. If your having issues, I agree with HJS, maybe get a lesson, if they are not for you, sell them and have a go with something else!! :)

I’ve got MP32 which I got to use over the winter for improving my ball striking. This has worked and I now us them all the time. I found I hit them further than the MP57 I have, but if you are not hitting the sweet spot they go nowhere.
For shot shaping these are great I can now hit a lovely draw (or a shank) !!

I considered buying some MP33 Blades off ebay and spoke to a mate of mine who is a pro. His Response was quite clear.....

Many pros now don't even use blades as they are too unforgiving, get some decent cavity backs....

So I stuck with the Taylor Made Rac TP Blades (With the cavity) and the game is improving after slowing the swing down and focusing a little more.

Have a lesson with the pro at my new club tonight so we'll see what happens.

I tried a lovely set of MP60's for about four months and my game was clearly not good or consistant enough so I went back to my Ping I5's and never looked back.

I did have a set of Ping S59's which were excellent irons however I guess not technically full out blades. These irons were very forgiving but also gave good feedback and offered shot shaping.

I like the Ping S57's which are an inbetween iron and the new 56 looks stunning.

im not too sure whats happened to me and the mp-33 maybe it was beginners luck with the new irons at the time like mentally willing to hit them as best as poss, lately its been downhill. im using one club up more than i used to with any other iron i had in the past,

e.g par 3 hole4 at my course 166yds usualy id take a 7iron now its like 5iron maybe 6 if im lucky, wheres my distance gone

i am a decent iron striker and i play off 14 h/c when i first used them it was the easiest iron ever hit
