Which forumer has the lowest/highest driver loft?

9 degrees for me.

Now that I can keep it straight I get a lovely ball flight. Some of the height I've seen other guys put on a drive is unbelievable.

8.5

Did have a 7.5 a couple of times but it was occasionally troublesome.

Also have a 2 wood rather than 3 as a related point. Prefer lower loft for my fairway woods. Not sure why - always have.

I think the old Callaway Biggest big Berthas were the same, a 9 was more like 10 etc.

Ive only seen 2 measured recently, Ricks R11 and my 910, both were heavily understated on the loft on the bottom of the club and from what Ive been told its a pretty common occurrence. Certainly seems that tolerances are a lot bigger than I would hvae expected

Titleist 8.5 for years, but a bad shot was a low pulled hook that went nowhere except trouble.
Tried a 10.5 but planes were in trouble so back to 9.5* to get that penetrating flight that suits my eye......allegedly

Looking forward to having fun with the R1 at 8* and 12*

i dont think you are doing yourself any favors using a 13 degree 3 wood over a driver!

Why?

I'm there about's or even out-drive most people's "average" drives, I'm straighter and more consistent with it than when I have tried to hit drivers, I'm straighter with it and hardly in trouble compared to when people hit wild drives.....I could go on ;)

fair enough. if you can knock it straight then stick at it. i just dont think theres that much of a difference in difficulty between a driver and a low lofted 3 wood.

i take it you have given a 12 degree driver a whirl?

Yes, I'm not sure if its the longer shaft, bigger head or what, I just don't like drivers, yet I can spank my 3w+

Those that have played with me on here more recently will tell you, I hit it well and its getting even better all the time.

As such, it gives me great confidence on the 1st tee and every tee thereafter ;)

I now have the matching strong 17* 5w with the same shaft, which I suppose is really a 17* 3w but hey, semantics ;)

As I have said though, I would like to try a 8.5 or 9* and practice with it but, if it only added a few yards and was temperamental, it wouldn't be worth it IMO, I'll take accuracy over distance every day of week ;)

if you a spanking it then stick at it. my nephews uncle on the other side plays off 7 or 8 and only uses the 3 wood. he can be as wild with that as he can be with a driver. althought he does put it out there and very straight when hes in the groove. just watch out on the first few holes with him. lol

Higher launch head (10.5*) with lower launch shaft (RIP Alpha).

Was really working out at the range earlier this week. Just kicked off the process of addressing my overly in-to-out swingpath though, so we'll see how long that lasts...

Robin ... Your "angle of attack" or how steep :blah: (I'm not sure what the anoraks on here would call it) but you could well be swinging that 3 wood and taking some loft off it. Each to their own, there can't be a lot of folk on here with a pendulum type swing so take some advice with a pinch of salt.
