well i have a handicap of roughly 18 and need a set of quality irons. i like the the look and feel of the AP1s but haven't demo-ed them yet. i am looking for a set that gives me control and forgiveness but not too much.
BTW have tried the callaway X22s and hate them. :(

It would appear that our younger golfing forumers are the entreperial and enterprising type. What with the amout of cash they earn, have to spend and 'deals' they can get. I must of gone wrong somewhere!!

What are they teaching our kids in school nowadays. I guess business has replaced English!! ;)

As for the clubs, why not. Also try the TM Tour Preferred irons as an option. Nice compact head, quite forgiving and just as expensive!

btw i think you should know that to fund golf i am selling the pointless modern day technologies so u cant really moan at me.
kids get such a negative view. spending too much time on computers, video games and watching tv. but when we get rid of them to fund an outdoor activity we get slagged off for having too much money.

Demo the AP1S there good clubs, i tried them before i bought the AP2S as our pro had the sure fit system and i was able to try both with various shafts but i went for the AP2S in the end. Correct you've to much money ,did you get an GCSE in enterprise. :)

Can you blame people?

There are some people on here, me included, that would need to save for a fair amount of time to be able to go out and afford a new set of irons here, a new Titleist driver there....

And then along come some young kids, and every other post is "what shall I buy?" or "I cant decide between this £400 set & that £400 set".

You say you get such a negative view for spending too much time on playstations and the like, yet you dont exactly endear yourself to a lot of folk with the constant "what to get?" threads.

You're absolutely right, there is a negative view of the youth and not all youngsters are the same.
I commend you for getting off your arse and from the computer games and getting some exercise.
I just think that folf are a little suspicious of youngsters spending. More so during the credit crunch when some folk are struggling.

Most (not all) of the stuff on here is said "tongue in cheek" don't take everything as a personal attack.
Maybe attend a few events and get to know some of the others and opinions may change

how about the nike split cavities?

i havent tried them but i guess they provide you with a bit of forgiveness and plenty of control, kind of a middle ground between game improvement and blades, plus they look pretty nice as well.

I'm in the market for a new set of irons as well, and there are some great deals to be had around just now!
I too like the look of the APs, although I would have to demo both the 1s and the 2s before I looked at one specifically. Also I am looking at the Nike VRs. Would love to play the blades, they look fantastic, but I know I just am no where near good enough! So i am looking at the full and split cavity irons.
Yes, it is a lot of money, but I have worked hard and saved hard, and by buying a good quality set I should see them last for a while too!

How do you know you like the feel of AP1s if you havent tried them yet?

mizuno mp 57s are nice, there the ones aimed at mid handicappers i think. the only thing is, with most mizuno clubs, they feel a wee bit dead if its not right out of the middle.

I think we should all remember that youngsters dont have Mortgages, wives, or kids......
My own lad has a grand in the Bank, which he isnt fussed about blowing, but he could if he wants,....its his money, we merely try and advise....

Mind you, for that, he's got up at 7am every morning, 6days a week, and gone and delivered your morning paper's, come rain, snow, or shine.

Maybe Pete, Mono and others. do the same, or maybe they Buy & Sell on Fleabay, or whatever other entreprenarial things they have going,......its only to be encouraged in my opinion, as is playing this wonderful game, which may stick with them through life.

We have a great bunch of juniors at my club, a lot of them 10H/C or below, and even have a lad off 1 @ 17yrs old, and I find playing with them damn good fun, they're great company, and improving rapidly, which is something most of us on here perhaps cant say.

Pete, if you want new irons, go get some, but make sure you play well with them as well as like the look of them, dont forget the old adage......Buy in Haste, Repent at Leisure......

Or Buy some more........ :D

Lighten up guys!, Never seen so many begruding grumpy bar stewards.
Try out the Titleist APs and I'd give the Mizuno range a look .. the enjoy your golf. :D

what does it matter how he funds his golf? He asked for advice on which clubs to buy and here you all are berating young people for having too much money!

Perhaps he robbed a bank....its really none of or business.

Back on topic (ahem...) how good a ball striker are you currently? There areforgiving clubs like Mizuno MX200 that offer forgiveness plus a fair bit of workability. Or if you are a good ball striker, you could go totally pimp and get a set of shiny blades that will last you for a long time to come.
