my daughter has got to an 11 handicap from 51 at the seasons start & needs to shave a few shots off to do what she wants to do, i've had the luxury of 3 golf clubs but now she moved into the $150+ bracket & i cant afford to use all 3 now.

Club 1: is the home town club, good course, practice areas are a putting green & an uphill ex farmers field across the road, but have been good to her. $150 - 10mins travel time in car. Next door to her school so walking distance.

Club 2: inbetween my town & another, excellent course, chipping area, putting green, nets, range bit of a pain to get to round the back of the club. $150, 10mins driving time.

Club 3: A top 100 course, 2 driving ranges (1 an nightmare to get to) the other range balls, putting green, short game area, par 3 course & main course has had a 9 hole loop added. $160 + $160 joining fee & 40 min driving time.

Excuse the dollar signs my pound sign doesnt work

Would you join just one, pay $300 for the best one but increased travel & petrol costs or use $300 to join the other 2, I want to go to club 3 but would she benefit from playing 2 courses instead of one now, confused.com

I'd go for option 3. She's obviously getting to a decent standard and she's more likely to get good coaching at the better club. It happens down here. A lot of girls from the clubs around the town all end up at Ellesborough. Good course and they get noticed by "County" and get onto coaching schemes.

That would be my choice

I think the biggest factor will be travel time. It's no good being at a top club if you don't get there enough and the one thing junioprs do best is play, play and then play some more. Sounds like the combination of the cheaper two will be enough to challenge her and provide good facilities.

I would keep her at yer home Club mate.....If its been good enough to get her to 11 from 51 then it aint all bad......
Its local which means that in winter time she can make use of the little light that she'll have to practice as its so close......Plus your fuel bill will be lower.....

Club 3 is a similar picture to what i have as regards the distance it is from my home......even though its 30 mins drive its on narrow country lanes and its hard for me to practice there unless i get up to it on a weekend day....
This is why i use a local course for my putting and chipping which has a driving range also......

Depends how serious she is & which has the best junior programme....

That said , if the pro at your current club has been teaching her and got her to 11 so quick, i'd probably be staying put for now !!

Depends on where she'll be happiest. If you can fit the travel time in then she'll probably get more out of option 3 but bear in mind the short winter days and will she get full value. OK I know you can probably leave her up there all day in the summer but you need to find a balance.

I think if she can use a range, and the chipping area and the course will still give her a regular challenge then option 2 might be the best bet and put up with the hassle getting round the back to the range
