When is an eye gouge 'really' serious?

So Dupuy gets a 6 month ban for 'gouging the area around the eye' in the HC game against Ulster.

Can anyone explain why Burger only got a yellow card and an 8 week ban then in the Lions series?

Not that I mind a scruffy little Frenchman being banned, but wouldn't some consistency go a long way?

I think that most of the rugby world were outraged as to how lightly Burger got off for his gouging incident.

Having been on the receiving end of fingers in the eye more than once in the past I even think that a 6 month ban is too lenient.

It is a joke that Dupuy gets 6 months and Burger 8 weeks. The joke was Burger's ban really.

I think that the authorities are now getting their act together after the outcry over Burger and bans handed out now are more meaningful which is entirely right and proper.

the bigger issue is the allegation by Stade that the photos of the second gouging bt Atoube was doctored.

if this allegation is rejected Stade should be kicked out for their libellous actions.
