When is a price match NOT a price match......??

I'm not a massive fan of Direct Golf as a retailer as it is but when these firms boast about their price match then renege because of their small print it makes me more determined to not shop there.

Small print should be banned.

The only think that winds me up about them is when they give a 'sale' price and compare it to the RRPs, that no one ever pays. So they advertise it on sale for £50 off, when in fact it is just the going rate. Also I have seen them boasting about cut price GPS devices with the RRP being something like £250 and they are offering it for £249.99. Literally there was a penny off, and they were making this seem like a deal.

But as said before, no different to most other manufacturers, and they do make it easier and quicker to buy golf equipment which can not be a bad thing for the future of the game.

I've given up trying to use price match just buy from cheapest reputable retailer normally find it's back to the usual favourites too and not the big name nationwide companies.

Not a big DG fan but its not just them. AG equally as bad. Some good ones about and I tend to use a few favourites now and take their best price on a day to use as a guide against my pro's price.

Never really bothered with price match. If companies with the buting power of the 2 big retailers cannot offer the best price with the buying power that they have then my money goes elsewhere. Only used it once when they agreed to price match the latest model of a club with last years model on another site. Asume it was a mistake

I hate DG. Their Farnborough store is closest to me, the staff are rude and arrogant. I wanted to buy a Mizzy hybrid, which was £79.99 and the store was having a "10% EVERYTHING" off day. They then told me the club wasn't in the 10% off sale as it was already reduced.

I got home to find a DG brochure on my doorstep WITH THE CLUB AT £79.99 PLUS AND EXTRA 10% OFF THAT WEEKEND ONLY!!!!!!!

I also went to buy some Adizeros when they first came out with a £10 voucher I had. Again, told I can't buy the top price pair with £10 voucher because we're already selling them cheaper than RRP... but the lower price-point ones also cheaper than RRP we can do with the £10 off.

I honestly think their staff are told what they can and cannot discount on a daily basis. I avoid the place like the plague these days.

I use a local DG store and have found the guys to be sensible and usually open to a 'deal' - but you aren't going to get that over the phone.

I thought DG was a franchise system so its the local staff that will either make it good or crap

Don't understand the price match thing, I just check the websites, find out who's cheapest and buy whatever I want from them!
I agree. But when I looked at a driver in AG the other day, the guy told me straight up without me asking that as it was advertised on line at a cheaper price than AG were offering, he would price match giving a £30 reduction. And he offered me a good price for my current driver.

That scenario I just don't understand why not just drop the price £30 in the first place,
