When I were a lad

I used to hate bob a job week. If i remember correctly it used to be during school half term. Instead of playing football with your mates you had to wash some geezers car or cut his grass to raise a few pounds for the scout group. It should have been called slave labour week.
What about the other 51 weeks a year when the scouts looked after you?
That just sounds so ungrateful

I was ok with it - saw it as a challenge to earn the most - until too many of the loaded denizens of Whitecraigs started extracting the michael and abusing our goodwill and the whole purpose of it - which was to help us fundraiser by paying us a bob or two for doing what really would amount to not that much or something that wouldn’t take very long.

the idea was to do simple tasks for a bob (5 pence), but some folks seemed to take the proverbial. Pay you the bob but excpect you to cut a lawn the size of wembley with a push mower.

Yup, if Mr Miyagi taught kids anything its not to go round asking grown-ups if they have any jobs that need doing!
