The last society i played saw me take the longest drive comp. Without the use of GPS its impossible to get a spot on distance, but i had just passed the 200 yard marker on a par 5 510 yard so it was between 300-310 depending on where the tee box was from the point it was measured. This was during the hot period a few months back
my average drive is normally 270-280, but the odd out the button peach hits 300.
I'm not overly bothered about how far I hit it as long as it's straight and most people would be seriously surprised if they knew their actual distances. Anyone claiming to regularly hit 300+ is probably deluding themselves (Pieman excepted )
The PGA Tour average is 286 so it's unlikely many of us will be up there regularly unless conditions are hugely in our favour.
