What's your fault ?

My main problem is my mentality. I seem to use all my concentration up just staying positive and don't save enough for actual shot making to last more than maybe 12-15 holes. The resulting swing faults can result in absolutely anything (left, right, fat, thin short,long...dare I say shanks), This game is torture.

I have golf faults but my main one is concentration,my mind goes wondering and when i wake up im two holes further on.Need to practice staying in the zone but probably dont know how.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi talks about focusing on the task in hand to get into The Zone. I've found being aware of mundane things that don't directly contribute to your technique help even better. This can include the movement of your ribs, the ground under your feet or the touch of the clothes on your skin - they can help to get you into the moment.

I've written a book on this subject as it happens :) It's a process like falling asleep - if you let nature run its course you'll get into The Zone, whilst anything you do to try directly will prevent it happening.

For me, looking to see the outcome before hitting the ball is top of the list, followed by shanking wedges. I just love shanking 60/70 yard wedges.

I could probably write a whole how not to golfing manual. I am another contender for Come Dancing with my jiggy left knee. Add in my quck tempo leading to snap hooks or huge slices if I clear everything out too fast, dodgy short game, over practicing, getting too far ahead when going well (see Rocky Horror Post), lifting up through impact and I think I've covered most bases.

Maybe the guy should focus on learning how to spell his name properly ?

;)

The problem with The Zone, is that I normally only know I was in it, once I've come out of it.

:(

According to my lass everything is always my fault.....

That's good.

:)

I know who to blame now, the next time HID has a pop at me.

:D

I can imagine it now....

HID : You haven't taken the rubbish out.

ME : It's that bluddy Dodger's fault.

HID : That's ok then. Here have some home made apple pie.

Yup, I can't see any holes in that one.

Concentration and alignment for me. If i can keep switched on for 18 holes my hcap would deffo be lower.

It seems to be going in the right direction as far as I can see.

Dunno about the alignment ( if I did, I'd be doing it )

But I've been told that my concentration would be better if I was fitter. I haven't actually got round to testing that out yet, but do you reckon it might be part of the problem?

mine is psycological

im striking my irons much betetr than ever right now but, in my head i keep saying to my self when i swing the irons gravity tend to pull outside more.

cos i swing pretty close with the ball more towards me and i hit pretty well, when i think of it it does keep pulling away and ruining my shots at little times. when i stand further i swing to my normal liking which is close and i cant always win :-( whats wrong wimme

Beating myself up on the course for not doing the simple things simply.
One bad hole (and I mean where I've played it like a total cock) ruins the next two or three for me.
And then my score, like my turd that morning, has gone down the pan.

Mine is simply my alignment.

Even if I concentrate on getting my feet and hips square, I'll still find I'm either pulling it left, or slicing it.

Today I had it pointed out for the umpteenth time that my shoulders were still open at address, even though my lower body was lined up fine.

And I was swinging along the line of my shoulders.

I've had this pointed out numerous times over the last year or so, and no matter how much time and effort I put into checking my allignment, I still subconciously creep back into the bad old habits time, and time, and time again.

What fault do you have that, no matter how many times you try to get rid of it, it keeps on coming back to haunt you?

I read this - checked mine and had the best day with mt driver ever - Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you :D

mine also is alignment. I went out with a mate who reckons I get two out of three aligned, usually club face and shoulders, then swing along the line of my feet. tendency is straight right or, latterly, pulls and hooks (probably because I'm now too open or I'm thinking about not going right).

also much is apparently down to grip (my right hand wants to be under the shaft) and takeaway (my right elbow loses all contact and does its own thing).

unfortunately correcting all this requires too much thinking on the tee and instant reversion.
