The driver is unique in the bag.
With every other club in the bag, if you want to hit it further, you just change clubs
So if you want to hit it further with a 6 iron, you just change to a 5.
With the driver, you can't club up. If you want to hit it further, you have to hit it harder
And harder.
And harder.
With the rest of your clubs, you'll probably have a good idea how far you hit them
I suggest you do the same with the driver.
Learn how to hit it a consistent distance and groove that distance. Dont try and hit it any further.
When you can hit it 250 consistently straightish, be happy with that and dont try and squeeze an extra 20 metres out of it on the par 5s.
It may/will get boring popping it down the middle every time but you will take less 7s and 8s and will probably get more birdies on those par 5s by hitting more fairways.
