Whats Happened

Just checked, its the same as always on Chrome, unreadable on ie!

Something has messed up somewhere!

My advice to anyone with issues is try a different browser.

I've tried it on 2 different machines, but both with the same browser. 1 works, 1 doesn't. Maybe it's not the browser, but the way of accessing the forum.

so in what way did you 'access the forum' differently with your two machines?

Some people access the forum via google, or othe search engines. Some people have it in their favourites lost. Some type the address. Some clear cookies each time they exit, some never clear cookies. I accessed the forum on the first machine via google. On the other machine, I keep the page open all the time. It's probably not the answer, but I'm pretty certain that the browser is not at fault (in my totally undereducated opinion.)

whilst cached pages have the capability to affect what's delivered the rest won't. the address will be resolved, the code recieved and rendered by a browser and it's add-ons, to deliver the visual image you see as a page.

it's making no difference on my machines - there are sections of the standard page that render differently each time I access them today, and at no time has any page actually rendered correctly.

I would agree that the 'browser is not at fault' - the other 40 windows I have open are all fine! My guess would be some new code on the web site that's not working correctly with some combinations of browser, operating system and add ons

Precisely what I was thinking.

Not a fix but helps, when you load up a page, click on a link (i use the settings which is top left) and then back, then the page loads like normal.

The main pages are ok now but when you reply to a post the layout has changed - horrible!

If this is how it's going to be then I'm off!

definitely changes things doing that - facinating! Still not correct though.

I should have added earlier that it's not the GM main website - it's the forum software.

Not the end of the world - I'm sure things will be resolved in due course.

You have to wonder if it's related to the newly appointed Mods of course....but it's hard to see how!!!
