Leave it in, and get rid of the penalty for hitting it. As we do under winter rules.
I take it you don't have the approved winter rules then.

Reserved car park spaces for captain, vice captain, lady captain, vice lady captain, last years's captain, last years' lady captain, club secretary, pro, assistant pro .....![]()
why did you go and do that? you know what this lot are like.
For amareurs not in any kind of comp, the daftest rule in my opinion is going back to the tee to take a shot for WHATEVER reason.
It just is not practical or necessary as there are plenty of good alternatives to this rule, it just enforces slow play.

Only now comes to mind. Not being allowed to repair spike marks on the green. I never think it is fair that someone could have walked over your line and left spike marks, that then penalise you.
Rules for me is always the double hit. You don't meant to do it and on the few occasions I have done it I have never gained and therefore a wasted 'shot'.
and in the same vein - unrepaired pitch marks (on fringe) between your ball and putting surface. But I accept that it's to do with defining what is and what isn't - and again just bad luck. So when I can I always repair pitch marks in the fringe when I come across them - save some other poor soul being unlucky.
Im like that with spike marks, I will always tap any down I see when I am leaving the green after finishing. If everyone does it then there would not be the problem of spike marks and everyone would benefit,
If you know it could be OOB then take a provisional tee shot - then you don't have to go back to the tee ?
I always take a provisional if there is a possibility that my tee shot could be in danger
 for some reason some of our members think that it's OK to leave or ignore bleedin' cavernous pitch marks in the fringe of a green - why is it OK? It's not. Fix pitch marks in fringe as you'd fix them on the green (hmmm - that's the problem isn't it)
seems to me that from the responses so far we don't actually have any playing rules that we think are out-of-date - I'm not surprised.
