What do people think? Is there any old ones specific to your club?

Not being allowed to change shoes in a car park has got to be one of the most annoying.

We can change shoes in the car park now and seen it relaxed at a fair number of clubs

Maybe jacket and tie at certain clubs when eating ?

Most clubs now allow ankle socks as long as they are white

Not being allowed to tuck your trouser bottoms in your socks when its wet and muddy. i think it looks like your wearing plus 2s or 4s , so why not.??????.

Dress wise, tucking your shirt in. It's pointless, as it gets untucked pretty quickly when playing.

Golf wise, for me, it's tending the pin. Have it in, or out, but tending is daft. Esp as if your opponent doesn't pull it, you get the penalty if you hit it. How stupid is that?

Leave it in, and get rid of the penalty for hitting it. As we do under winter rules.

Wouldn't want it left in personally - rather not run the risk of hitting the pin and getting a bad ricochet from it.

In the actual rules of golf, plugged ball in the rough is my pet hate, the pro's don't suffer this at tournaments as local rules end up being in place (abnormal ground conditions).

Shoes in the car park, a collar in the clubhouse, no jeans etc etc......... there could be a book of these.

Dress wise for me it's the having to wear shoes in the clubhouse (no trainers) even when wearing shorts as the only shoes I own are either golf shoes (not allowed inside either), black dress shoes, brown Chelsea boots or my works steel toe capped boots (surprisingly allowed).

The latter 3 worn with white socks and shorts in the summer months make me look like a right idiot.

For amareurs not in any kind of comp, the daftest rule in my opinion is going back to the tee to take a shot for WHATEVER reason.

It just is not practical or necessary as there are plenty of good alternatives to this rule, it just enforces slow play.

We all know golfer's aren't renown for their fashion sense, but shoes with shorts??? Really?? If there's going to be a rule it should be banning people from wearing shoes with shorts! (I just put my Skechers on which are somewhere between shoes and trainers no-one's said anything yet!)

Play a provisional - that way there is no need to go back to the tee

There are some old timers at ours that think it looks quite fashionable. I'm pretty sure they also wear socks with their sandals.

Dress codes are pretty antiquated. I'm pretty sure most clubs can enforce a local rule for a plugged ball in extreme conditions.

I think that although they "can", it doesn't mean they do. Idon't think that "extreme" conditions should be required, if they whole idea of golf is that we're playing the same game as the pro's (even if they get spotters for lost balls - I need them more!), then we should also get free relief from plugged balls in the rough, everytime.

Dress code yes, but that's a club thing, we are very relaxed apart from formal comps dinners etc. the thing with shorts and socks is just bloody ridiculous.

on course, plugged ball in rough
water filled bunkers
Playing in turn, whoever is ready plays
playing out of divots
