Based on the other thread about a poor range, and the fact I've said for years there's a market for a "designed by golfers" range that people would 'want' to go to and didn't mind the cost due to the quality.
So what would be in your ideal range?

I'd like to see...

Decent balls
Accurate distance markers from EACH bay!
Wider bays
Decent lighting and heater in every bay
A range where you can see your ball land (one near me has hills your ball goes over!!!!! What's the point)
Targets that are greens with bunkers flags and a hole your ball can go into
Novelty targets like a car and/or water with a bell for daytime and underlit so you see the coloured water splash at night
Coffee and soft drinks machines plus decent seats and area to set up video camera
A section of the mat you can put your OWN tees in to get the height you like

I've more but what else would you want?

Decent balls
Decent matts and tees
Wide bays
Decent range of targets measured accurately
Trackman or similar
Video playback on plasma tv of each shot with all stats
Decent coffee
Heaters
No pikeys

One thing I did like when I went to a range, they had a bonus bucket, about 100yrds out and when you bought your balls you were given a numbered yellow ball. Aim was to get this in the large target and you won free range sessions if you did it! I liked that idea....

All the above....

but with

PRO V1's
Trackman bays (the system is designed to accept a password and record your stats/progress)

A loud speaker system that detects shots out the neck and announces 'shank in bay 4.. shank in bay 4'.
:whoo:

decent balls, and probably something to entertain me, maybe a bit of music nothing more annoying then hearing whack whack curse for an hour, but heating would be a must.

Pretty much everything you have said as well as an area where you can hit balls off grass!! theres a range near Ipswich where they allow you to hit balls off the grass at the far end of the range. The range closest to me is just so bland, just bloody awfull most of the time I have no inspiration to practise at all  .

I have the practice ground at the club for hitting off turf which is great in the summer but no good after work in the winter. To be honest a grassed area at the range unless floodlit properly wouldn't be any help. To be honest as long as the quality of the mats are good, they are level and the balls are decent then I'm not too fussed. The one at Maidenhead is pretty good (heated bays too) and all I want is my own space where I can work on my game. I'm not usually driven by distance when working on the swing and it is all about the technique.

I'd love a range with a dedicated short game area closer by and there are rumours that Blue Mountain five minutes away are going down that road. If it is better than what I have at Ascot then I'll be setting up camp there this summer
