to get you to the next level.
We all have our goals, whether it be Cat I, single figures, breaking 80 etc, but what will it take?
More time practicing, more time playing, better short game, better long game, more lessons?
Or all of the above?

I am determinned to get to cat 1.... and its short game for me. I now i leave a few out there and more up and downs are the key for I think.

Plan to spend an hour most mornings round the practice green before work when the weather pics up.

I dunno what the next level is, but my aim for the year was to drive it straight and break 90. It seems to do so I need to change my swing quite dramatically and I've started lessons in order to do that.

I guess the answer is lots of practice and some coaching.

To add to that, I tend to just grab the 60 degree regardless of the shot i've got, without thinking it through.

I noticed last year that my mates who are v low handicappers tend to take a more lofted club when possible and run it up to the flag. This seems to much more consistent.

So this year I want to develop a feel for this shot rather than keep trying to carry it to the pin.

I take it you meant LESS lofted?

That is considered to be the more consistant approach to getting it close

Driving more consistently. If I get the ball in the fairway more often I do score better. It means I can get on or at worst around the green and then a decent short game gets me a score. Too often I'm hacking out 100 yards or so instead of going for a green. best score last year was 74. I hit most fairways. It's getting better with the 910. Just got to keep working it.

I need to spend more time playing to improve. Going to the range and lessons I can do fairly easily, but finding time to play 18 holes is tough. I'm hoping that when the clocks change I'll get more opportunity.

After working hard on ball striking and change of swing this winter i now need to focus on 100 yards and in which started last weekend.

I should be a member of my new club by the end of the week and thats when i can start to get a lot of practice in this area.

Handicap aim for the end of the year is from 19 down to below 15.

For me it is definately to improve my driving. I have come on leaps and bounds with my irons, but my driver and 3 wood get me into so much trouble. Usually leave the driver behind now, but I am getting a bit more consistent with the 3 wood. Penalty shots on the back 9 on Sunday cost me my first real chance of breaking 100.

I've recently found that I can no longer sustain playing regular to my handicap without putting the practise in and working on the short game.

My short game used to be a massive strength and get me out of trouble and was the reason why im playing off 8. My driving and irons were just average in terms of accuracy.

Now it's my driving and irons that are my strength (if I do have one at the moment) so I need to work at my short game, especially my putting. But with the greens the way they are right now its a bit tough.

To sum up I think I'll be practising more, 90% short game including putting. That's the only way for me to get to the next level of a lower handicap.

Long irons need some work. I need to start hitting greens, not just relying on my short game to dig me out of a hole.

Staying out of the woods would be a help too.

Played last Saturday, really solid tee to green, only missed 2 fairways, hit 10 GIR (greens missed were only just, 5 foot being the biggest margin I missed a green by), but only got up and down twice out of 8 times. Longest putt I holed was 6 foot. Shot 6 Over, but felt like it could very easily have been Level
I've put a lot of work in on the long game over the Winter, now really time to concentrate on chipping and putting

I, like most people, love nothing more than a screamer off the tee straight down the middle, however for me to drop my handicap I need a lot of practice within 50 yards getting up and down in 2. Whilst my handicap was 18 I accepted I could be 1 over GIR on every hole then 2 putt but to lower it I need to start hitting the close chips at the pin and have more one putts.

(Revised ;)) Aim for this year is to get down to 15. Which is feel is massively achievable.

To get there I need to:

-Ingrain my new swing
-Play regularly (once a week at least, unless I have other commitments (holiday for example)
-Practice at least once a week, on my own, away from competitive/social rounds. Whether this be on the course, short game area, practice green or driving range.
-Focus heavily on my short game practice during this time.

If I can keep up the regular playing and focus my practising time, I'm confident my scores will tumble. I've played to mid-teens handicap before, which was some years ago before I stopped playing, but I can feel that I'm not that far from being back there. The main thing letting me down at the minute is consistency from lack of playing regularly (that and my swing changes).

(Very) Long term is to reach (finally) Cat. 1.

Next level is Cat 1 but I need to improve my iron play. Missing too many greens from 150yds and less.

Want to finally iradicate my over the top swing as well. Had a fantastic session last night with the pro after I had been floundering for a few weeks. Back on course now....(forgive the pun!!) :D

My putting drives me mad,I need to sink more putts from 10
feet or so,yesterday I had a couple of chances to birdie a
couple of holes, both on par 3s and ended up 3 putting, its so
demoralising. But, as they say, must try harder..

to be fair im not a million miles away from where i want to be.

short game has come on loads with up and down saves and putting being its best its ever been (thanks to the v easy :grin :

driving has been pretty good and scoring clubs arent to bad either. still a slight bit of in to out thats got to be worked on as i want to be hitting my 5i and 4i better, but other than that it course time and a bit more concetration to get rid of the silly mistake that ruin cards, cat2 is here for 2011, i may even get a sniff of 11 if i put the effort in.
