What will it take?

Same a Oddsocks for me. I just need to make more GIR and I think the handicap will take care of itself.

All it's needed this last year is a new driver, new Titleist irons, new balls, new golf bag and a new hip!

Aiming to go from 11 to 9 this year, better than 9 is a bonus!

Well, if I manage to practise and stay off the pop a good bit this year then the sky should be the limit.

Getting back on the road soon will help too.

If that doesn't work then I'll never be any good.

Roll on tomorrow!

Short game, especially the 20-60 yards range - I still have mental probs here I know im not committing and decelerating, fixing it not so easy

Driver, a new one as have lost faith in the current one, that or just using the strong 3 wood lol

Playing some comp rounds, genuinely think as soon as the course is dry enough and I get out there the handicap will start to fall

Aim for 2011 - get back down to Single Figures.

Managed it for the first time ever in 2009 (9.2), before slipping back up to 9.5 at season end.
2010 was a very consistent year - probably my most consistent in 20+years of playing, so high hopes.

Aims for the year :
Drive Better - hopefully my 910 D3 will help in this respect, - I hit a fairly long ball, so undoubtably, if I hit more fairways, it makes a massive difference.
Reduce Double Bogeys: My stats show I score more Pars & Bogeys than most Cat2 players do, but my downfall is the Double's that ruin my scores.
Ive identified the 4/5 holes that are the culprit's, so will be working hard to minimise damage there in future.

Sounds easy.......

Would like to get to Cat1, not sure about this year as I'm at a new course.

Not too bad off the tee, just need some one to hit everything from 100 yards and take every putt and i'm there :D

I've started the year at 25.3 and hope to get down to 22.0 by the end of the year. The general feeling at my club is that I'm a bandit, but i cant do no more and play in the comps and hand my card in.
My problem is my consistancy, the 14/4 good/bad holes is slightly changing to 15/3 and the occasional 16/2, as like Sunday, 37 points with 2 blowouts. Although I think my course management is quite good, I need to reduce my penalty shots, but our course has so much water, sometimes you only have to be 2 yards of the the fairway and your swimming, sometimes you can not help it.

Chipping from 10 to 40 yards from the green has got to improve, to many scuffed shots. I'm quite happy with my driving 54% this year as opposed to 50% last year, but do i go up to a driver? presently hitting a 3 wood.

Playing much better than last year...just need to play in comps for the real test :)

My weaknesses at the moment are shots within 60 yards and getting up and down from round about the green.

I will practice this though!

get down to single figures from 10.8 should not be too hard to do just need to play a bit more when the better weather gets here, real aim is to get to 8 if I can and going down to the course in the evenings for an hour or two should help.

Improvement from around 40 yards where I need to hit half shots or longer ship and runs. Too often those cost me.

I've got what should be an easy target, to get to Cat 2 from current 13 handicap.

What it'll take is better course management, and to stop trying to hit the ball as hard as I can......

Exactly the same as GB72. I had 8 short game lessons and spent over 100 hours on the short game lastt year and have and decent improvements. I now need some confidence in this area but I'm sure that it will come with more practice and course time.

Weakest area of my game by far is from 100yds in, so thats what I'm going to work on this year. Handicap wise I'd like to get to 4 if I can.
