what warm ups

Personally I get there about an hour before my tee time and do some proper stretching for 10 minutes. Then I hit wedges and short irons for 10 minutes. I'll hit balls for another 15, then have a few chips and buker shots and spend the last 10 minutes on the putting green.

Yeah thats good advice, i would start on the putting green, then move on to the chipping green, then finally some sretches, then on to the range, build your swing up slowly to prevent any pulling muscles. Try and keep warm, muscles work better warm(obviously).

I have recurring back probs and I will never play without a proper warm up. I try to get some stretching done before I leave the house , consisting of laying on my back and doing several sets of pulling my knees to my chest and sideways rolling of the knees together. Then a few sets of laying on my front and lifting my shoulders up but keeping my waist on the floor. Also incorporate side bends.

Then off to the course and do the usual swinging of arms and side rolls , hamstring/calf and thigh stretches. Gentle swinging of 3 clubs , then 2 clubs and moving up to hitting light wedges and up through to full swings with whatever club you want to hit.

Then off to the tee to kick some @ss.

I religiously have approx 3 swings with the club required for the first tee shot before hitting my opening shot.

Step on to first tee.
Place bag on ground.
Couple of knee bends and unzip the big pocket on the front of the bag.
Remove 50g pouch of Old Holborn/Golden Virginia/Drum/Samson*
Gently remove Rizla green from pkt.
Roll one up, light and puff.
Inhale slowly, then gently blow a big puff of smoke into your opponents face.
Place ball on tee
Take three beautiful practice swings that just brush the ground
Place driver behind ball
Think to yourself "I am not going to put this into that big bush on the right"
Take an almighty backswing
Start the downswing at double the speed
Hit the ground 2" behind the ball
Make a funny grunting noise and grimace
Take another puff on fag
"Accidently" kick the heel of your opponent as you walk off the tee
Start walking towards that big bush on the right

Works for me

I anchor my hips (to stop them rotating, ideally, parking your arse on a bench does the trick), loosely cross my arms across my chest, and then turn as far each way as possible, without forcing it, in turn. Do this for 3 minutes. It warms the back up without stressing it, and gets every thing loose and moving. I then do the same, but standing up, swinging a club like a base ball bat. Swing easy.

Then I'm ready to go.

So homer no driver warm up shots?? and its Bunkers!! :)

Casual round with my mates/on my own: 10 minutes of double club swings and shoulder rotations etc..to stretch out my back and loosen me up.

If I play in a Comp (not very often these days, hopefully more so next season): I'd do the above and 10 minutes or so on the putting green.

As above but i also have back issues. My chriopractor also downloaded something for me. All this club behind your neck and twist is bad for your spine and its extended and can cause issues, i would told as well as the above stretches:

1) lay an iron or long club acorss your chest and then twist back @ 90* then forward at 90* for around 5 mins

2) just put both hands together and reach for the stars, thsi should relax your back anyway

3) get a 8i/9i/pw together and build up swinging holding all 3 clubs as these are the heaviest 3 in your bag.

ive had no probs since.

I head to the putting green for ten minutes, not worried about making putts, just try to get a feel for the pace.

Then I'll stretch for about five minutes, making sure my arms, back and thighs are warmed up. I'll grab a wedge from the bag and make a few light swings and work my way up to full wood swings.

If I have time I'll do some more putting, trying to make short putts and then head to the tee.

Stretch my calf muscles to help with the flat feet and shin splints, stretch the hamstrings so I don't pull them again. Then the glutes get warmed up as they're the biggest muscles you'll use in a golf swing (so I've been told). Then do some shoulder rotations (which also get your hips moving) then ten minutes putting and i'm off.

Used to try and hit some short irons before playing but this year I haven't done any warm ups other than a quick stretch 5 mins before the off. I did some warm up at Castle Stuart (not that it helped) but that was because it felt like being at the Masters with those ace facilities and I didn't have to go and pick up the balls afterwards.
Not taking it seriously enough this year and my scores are suffering for it. Hey-ho!

No.1 warm up for me is TURNING. Anything that keeps me steady in my legs and allows me to turn, turn, turn and turn some more is my miracle warm-up.

I tend to then hit a dozen shots in the net.
