... so after a steady, if unspectacular, season I came away with £90 vouchers for the pro shop. I also have about £30 already on account.
I'm moving clubs at the end of the winter season and need to decide what to get with my winnings.

I need some new waterproofs as mine have had it, turns out that just leaving them in the boot all year isn't very good for them, but the pro only has some Proquip or Footjoys in stock.

So should I get the waterproofs from the pro, or just clear him out of Pro V1's and get some waterproofs elsewhere, where I can try a variety of brands/fits?

Will he not just order whatever brand you want?

Go try them on at AG or somewhere then give him the sizes and colour etc. If he cant get them, he must know another local pro who will get them in for him.

Our Pro is not the normal club pro. He's, how do I say this politely........,a lazy sod (renowned throughout the county).
A mate wanted some midsize grips, but couldn't get them at our place as the pro didn't have them in. He could buy his own, and then pay to have them fitted. But the pro wouldn't order them.

Sounds to me like your best saving yourself some hassle and just stocking up on your preferred ball (if they sell them) and getting out of there :D

That's not good. :(

I think this may be the best option.

If you need new waterproofs, I'd see if he has the Tour flex range in from Proquip.

Cracking set of waterproofs at a sensible price

Go for the ProQuips. I have some and they are spot on.

Just about every pro shop I've seen sells Pro V1s at RRP, which is getting to 50 notes nowadays isn't it? Is it the same at yours? I know they are technically free as you have the winnings, but myself I'd feel better putting them towards some waterproofs, and then get some Pro V1s somewhere cheaper.

Gareth, Hacker & Greig,

Thanks guys, I'll see what range of Proquip he has in stock.

Whichever waterproofs you get just make sure they are gortex ! Nothing better. If you fancy splashing out a bit more you can't beat Galvins

buy a DMD still in box and either use it or flog it, or ideally see if any mates are about to buy something anyway and they can give you the cash.

This what I was going to say. Did this in reverse when I bought my pings. Mate had £50 on his account but didn't fancy anything. I have him the £50 and used his vouchers.

I've always found him good to deal with, why not speak with him and find out.

I don't quite get the last bit of your comment as if the pro was ordering them, how would your mate be buying them and just paying to have them fitted surely he'd just be purchasing them direct form the pro. edit were they maybe from a company he didn't have an account with?
