Well played today in our monthly medal....
The course was set up for a scratch cup....So it was playing long....It was windy and after 6 holes the rain made an appearance...

The course was sloppy to say the least but the greens were good.....

Now for the outcome....I had a bloody nightmare.....No matter what i tried to do it didnt work....
I was loosing my shots to both side of the course....Catching wedges fat, thinning my 3 wood, slicing, hooking, pulling, if it was in the book you can bet your *ss i had covered it....

I hope that its my bad round out of the way for the season.....And what did i walk off 18 with.............108.....

A 108....I havent played that bad since i took up the game..Played like a knob......The worst i took was a 10 off our 18th par 4.....Topped my tee shot into the lake in front of the tee box.....Reloaded and unleashed all my frustration on the provisional....Landed that on the short stuff....Pushed my hybrid into the cabbage, dropped to hit 6....Topped that with the hybrid to within wedge distance....Left the wedge well short of the flag after hitting it a hair fat....And 3 putted from about 20ft:rolleyes:.......

How can you have the last 4 rounds in the buffer as well as a cut just before and then play like you've never swung a club the week after shooting 2 over in the captains prize?

Easily done kid. Last year I played 4 rounds in the space of 9 days. 3 of them were 74, 74, 76. The 2nd one was 96!!!

You just have to accept it as one of those days and not to dwell too much on it

I feel yer pain.

Summer Meeting today, course was playing long with each tee as far back as you can go really and played awful, just awful.

Only once did I put two shots together in a row, driver 9 iron at 10 followed by 3 jabs!

41 putts on my way round and those putts counted for half my score and the worst thing is my putting wasn't the worst part of my game!!:mmm:

It was evident that I have played 27 holes over the last 5 weeks and I am glad that next weekend there's no golf and I am going back to what I have been doing best recently....getting pished!;)

Strangely though I enjoyed it,2 good playing partners with plenty craic and the young'un knocking it round in 3 under with a lost ball on 18.

Thought i was going to be off to a flyer after a 3 wood off our 1st and a peach of a 7 iron in to the green 2 putts and off to the 2nd with a grin....
I would love to give a shot by shot analysis to my round but i dont want to put anyone off their tea!:mmm:

You have my sympathy. The other week I played 9 holes 3 times during the week and shot between 2 and 4 shots under my handicap so went into the medal on the Saturday full of hope. Shot 101.

I'm guessing that because you have been swinging well you went out with too much expectation and left your course management in the car?

I know exactly how you feel. You can't analyse it or attempt to understand it, sh!t happens and there's no rhyme or reason as it happened to me and my very steady partner in our team game yesterday.

Worst of all you're going to have to give your comp secretary a buzz and DQ yourself for signing for a wrong score on the 18th... ;)

You know, it's funny.

Not your situation Kid, the fact I'm just coming out of a patch pretty much like this, except my patch has lasted since April  .

There is light at the end of the tunnel fella. Just chalk it up as a bad day

Not sure Pal...
I suppose looking back there were a few weird club choices alright but im not sure i could place the blame solely on them.....

I even felt i had know rhythm to my swing...Everything felt like a hit rather than a swing......
Felt like i was trying to punch the ball in the guts...Maybe it was the wind but i never let it affect me before....

I could nearly just about count up the good shots on 5 fingers this morning.....

1.....7 iron approach on the 1st from 145mtrs.

2.....4 iron on our par 4 7th from 180mtrs...Just short of the green but a good hit......

3.....5 iron from 168 mtrs on our 17th par 3 middle of the green.

Im struggling even to pick 5......And im not even going to talk about the ones in between.........

My round....

1st par 4 (4)

2nd par 3 (6)

3rd par 4 (5)

4th par 3 (3)

5th par 5 (7)

6th par 5 (5)

7th par 4 (5)

8th par 3 (5)

9th Par 4 (6)

10th par 4 (6)

11th par 4 (6)

12th par 5 (7)

13th Par 3 (7)

My god your on the ball Kellfire...I actually think that makes 11......Not that it'll make much difference.....0.1 back anyway and if i won with that score id give up....

Are you sure? I made it 10 based on what you said

1 - Tee to water
2 - X
3 - Tee to fairway
4 - Hybrid : lost
5 - X
6 - Hybrid topped
7 - Wedge: Hair fat
8 - Putt
9 - Putt
10 - Putt

I was right all along so.....I dont think it matters too much anyway Ian....I think that its rounded off for an 8 for handicapping but if im wrong someone will tell me.

It happens. I played like king of the choppers at Camberley and couldn't string two shots together. Had the odd shank which killed the confidence completely but the tops, slices, fats, thins and other hotch pot of shots were embarrassing. Since then I've hit it mucc better without any problem. Daft old game

Isnt it just Homer....And since a small swing change iv been playing really well...Well there's always next weekend.

Apologies kid2, in my haste I read dropping to hit six as dropped after six!

Kid, as already mentioned, you are in great company.
I played Shandon on monday in a society comp, won it.
Played Ardglass on Thursday in a small corporate event, won it.
Played my own course yesterday in monthly medal, ninety something with a few pars and a birdie in there. Complete and utter blow up.
Played again today, shot around my handicap (couple of gimmes in there though). My worst round this year was 83 before yesterday. Still, its just 0.1 chin up and get back out there.
