What shot makes you want to......

the shot that makes me want more. Our last hole is a 302 yard par 4, drivable if you hit it straight. Last week i hit what i could only describe as a 250 yard push which had a cut on it and then a slice on the cut. I had 3 wood left for my second shot it went that far right. My playing partners could stop laffing in fact one guy phoned me to check if i was cos i was that far away.

I want to come back so i can at least have a iron into the green next time i play it

Legend :D :D :D

Any shot that I see in my mind beforehand and then execute exactly as I intended. For kudos it has to be a chip in from off the green or out of a bunker as I'm a short hitter anyway so don't get overly excited by long drives. I do enjoy a decent well struck tee shot but I guess if I had to pick one it would be the tram line putt from 25 feethat is on line the moment it's struck and falls in at perfect speed, just dying as it gets there

Agree with the Homer - the simple pleasure of thinking I might actually be getting the hang of this.

The other shot is one that I have managed to develop to get over my complete inability to hit a punch shot with an iron keeping it low from under trees. Effectively it's a chip shot with a 3 wood that runs straight and low and last time I used it managed to put me 2 feet from the pin from 125 yards out on the 18th at the Dukes Course at Woburn for a 1 putt gross birdie.

For me there is no better feeling than watching whoever your playing with/against smash a drive straight down the fairway pick the tee up straight away and give you a little smirk as they walk away only for you to step up with the pressure on and smash a drive straight down the fairway but 20-30 yards past there ball.

:)

played my perfect shot only yesterday, 90 yards out wedge to within 3 feet. it was just one of thoise shots you know are good as soon as you hit it.

final hole at my local is a par 3, getting par makes me want to return for more

The fact that there are so many of these is what makes this game so addictive and rewarding.

For me I suppose there are 3, all mentioned above

The well struck long/mid iron off a really nice lie that sails to the heart if the green. :)

The little chip or pitch from a nasty lie that cosies up to the hole or (if I can be really greedy) drops in dead weight. :D

Any putt over 20 feet that goes in exactly as I read it - preferably for a bird!

Love hitting nice crisp shots on the last but there is something perversly satisfying about recovering from a bad shot for an up & down par or better.

A good chip or pitch follwed by a tap in or a 25footer boxed for a par to cap off a decent round leaves a good taste in the mouth.

Played the other morning and came to a long par 4 , drove what i thought was a nice drive until we got up the hill only to discover the ball had plugged and i still had 200+ to the green. My 5 wood hadnt worked all round so i dusted the cobwebs off the 3 iron and hit it so sweet high and long leaving me on the dancefloor about 15 ft from the hole.
unfortunatley i 3 putted but was well happy with that 1 shot.

favourite has got to be a par 4 where you know you dont need a long drive and that you can definitely reach the green in two.

then to step up and set the drive off down the middle and then pull a 7iron out and stick it on the green.

but then you guys probably take that sort of play for granted! haha

long irons for me too - especially when you see it arcing up into a pure blue sky!

but right up there is that final putt when you nick the match on the last green.

Generally what does it for me is the little chips and pitches that you work out, then execute the shot and the ball finishes stone dead! sometimes I prefer stone dead rather than in the cup as holing it can look jammy where stone dead is the bo**ocks!

I did hit a 4 iron on Wed this week to a difficult green into the wind about 195. It floated over one of the front bunkers and settled 10ft from the pin - that did make me purr!

Hitting as small an iron as possible past others peoples best drives.
Also hitting short irons off tees to leave myself a good distance back then hit it inside everyone else.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

For me, the crowd pleaser is a 3W or utility approach that hits the green and sticks.

Like for example you stuff your drive on a par 4 and leave a long approach, or your 2nd to a par 5 green.

When those go and stick it makes me want to scream & shout!!

The 4th at my track is a long par 4, played it off the whites for my handicap a few weeks back, didnt hit my drive too well and left myself with 228yds to the front, took out my 3W and absolutely killed it, I ran up the hill to watch as it hit the front edge and rolled on about 10ft.

I absolutely love those shots!

Looking back on last season i still remember certain shots that gave me the most pleasure at the time.

Flopping over a bunker to within 2 feet of the pin was the shot that immediately sprang to mind.

Also a 7 iron from the semi rough about 130yds. out, again over bunkers protecting the green and landing about 2 feet away.

A 5 wood up to an elevated par 3 green which hit the pin.

Best shot(s) has to be when you're on a long par 5 and the only way to reach is by hitting driver twice and you hit two perfect shots in a row setting up an eagle opp.

Is a wedge out of the rough from 75 yards really an eagle opportunity?
