My Home Course was originally a 9-hole that you played twice, and during a Saturday morning game playing with a mate who was getting married that afternoon (it's true), his best man and another guest I eagled the first with an 8-iron 2nd shot then birdied five of the next 8 holes, reaching the turn in an amazing 29 shots typically for a Saturday the course was flooded with weekend golfers and we knew that we were never going to get finished in time and get to the Church, so it was one of those 'If Only' times in your life.

However, years later there are now 27 holes and the 18 is a short course with 6 Par 3's and a CSS of 65 and a Par 68 but don't let that fool you all 6 short holes have to be hit to have a chance of getting par. A recent 69 followed by another are my best scores to date and a relief after years of trying to break that '70' but even then you know you have left a few shots out on the course.
A quick word to those that have a 'GOAL' never give up, you will get there eventually and as soon as you do, raise the barrier and set a new target. It's a perfect way to play the game.

Sorry. Had to share this one. All this talk must have inspired me ....to a lovely 2 over par 73 on Saturday. Best round this year, so far.

Level after 11 and thought I was blowing it after 3 bogies in a row from the 12th but managed to play the last 4 holes in 1 under. Thought I might be on for my first sub par round the way I was hitting the ball and putting, despite missing three 2 footers and leaving it in the bunker twice too.

Was playing off the medal tees but not in a medal unfortunately otherwise woulda got down to 7.1. Damn. As they say,......... it's all in the timing!

my best has been +15 but not in a comp because it was me getting a card in. however if i play like i did that day but not with the odd hole i think i could shoot under +10 due to me having one quadrupal bogey and two double bogeys

What's the best score you could reallistically imagine yourself scoring? (Say around your home course) Why? And what's your best so far?

Home course......hmm.......depends how many birdies I could "fluke" in a game. If I could match 3 birdies to 3 bogeys, then I'd play to par...but that's not going to happen though. I'd say 3 bogeys on the front, 3 on the back, and one birdie....so about 5 over.

I've managed a few 8 overs this year. My all-time low scores have included lots of up n downs (6 or 7?) and a birdie or two. :)

Best score to date is 90 but I think that, if all went well I could bring that down to 85 and that to me is a realistic target for this season

Where the chuff did we dig this old chestnut from? How do you dig up archive threads?

That's what I was thinking. It seemed to have died in 2007!

Now we have two the same..... :D

Par = 71
My best so far in competition is 77 (+6)
My best in none competition is 71 (=)

I think I'm well capable of this in competition if I can keep my head together and hole a few putts.

I regularly hit over 70% of GIR and over 60% of Fairways, I hit a long'ish ball and am quite accurate so I have the long game to be getting low scores. I just need those U&Ds and occasional birdie putts to drop.
