Where were you taking lessons? At rustington driving range by any chance? If so I've watched the coaching methods and to say I'm less than impressed is an understatement!
Where/who is 25 minutes away from you also? I'd be very wary of any of the local "coaches" who only have you hitting into a net as to be honest at beginner level referencing what you feel to how the ball behaves after it's left the clubface and through the air is very important.
Ok, I wasn't expecting that - but yes, Rustington.
I must say though - considering I couldn't grip the club right, hit the ball straight nor generate a solid swing, The pro's there changed this.
The level 3 coach is the only coach I have had so far, so I don't have anyone to compare him to by any means but I'm pretty sure the youtube video's I've been watching haven't taught me everything I know to date.
I was looking at chichester for lessons/club membership - I like the tower course, then you have the added advantages for a reasonable price. Although the only research I have done as far as lessons there is a price check.
Do you have any suggestion's or recommendation's for me?
Personally I detest the Chichester courses and Hill Barn also. It's like they use herds of drunken goats to maintain the courses! If you're going to spend the £1000+ on their tri-course membership I'd being trying out every course in the area you can before you part with your money. For what is essentially a municipal course also a lot of the members at Chi are so far up their own arses it's unbelievable.
I'm a member at Cottesmore which is 25 mins away from me. I'm in Findon just North of Worthing. Had a couple of lessons with Calum Callan there and I'll be going to him for the forseeable future.
Was it the old boy Jim who you had lessons with? He's a nice old bloke but that price is obscene for his teaching abilities if I'm honest.
As teaching pro's go round here a lot of people rave about Steve Rolley at Worthing. If you can deal with him being a condescending knob then yes he's a good coach.
People have very good results with Keith Renwick but he's not top level PGA and he's new school bio-mechanics rather than golf tuition - suits me perfectly as I understand my swing but as a relative novice probably would do you more harm than good.
And of the day you're paying them and I'd be asking for a seriously reduced taster session to see if you like them before parting with proper cash!
