BBQ's come under having a bit of fun outside. Of course the food tastes better cooked properly, but when the weather is warm and sunny you can't beat nicely cremated meat.

And there was me thinking you were a cultured fellow.

For those that don't do BBQ's. Has your golf club never thought to put on a BBQ after a weekend comp?

Its a great social way to have lunch and share banter after a round

If my club ever has I have managed successfully to avoid it.

Please feel free to enjoy your barbecues, just don't expect me to join in.

Briquettes are only for Roasting in a Weber. Whole roast chicken and Beef/Lamb joints are awesome doen this way.

I've got a Weber smoker, and have had some cracking joints cooked low and slow.

One from last year, start to finish about 6hrs cooking ,dry rub and occasional mop sauce during cooking. The jint ended up with a lovely smoke ring and smokey, hot and spicey crust.

None. BBQ's are rubbish. The food tastes second rate and men embarrass themselves throughout the proceedings.
Boooooooooo
Hear! hear!!
Double Boooooooooooo

I normally only BBQ up at my folks or with a disposable on the beach. Folks have a gas BBQ which is great for speed and ensuring food is properly cooked but I do like the taste from charcoal. Best in between in cook it on the gas and finish on a disposable to add a little extra flavour.

Used to have charcoal, now got gas. I prefer the flavour of the charcoal one, but the ease of use for the gas one far outweighs the taste. The taste is not so far removed with lava coals, especially after they've been used a bit and soaked up plenty of dripping, and if you drop some oak smoked chips on them, and only having to fire up and wait for 5 mins to start cooking, no brainer.

I beleive you lose the whole point of a BBQ with gas. Surely then its just a griddle pan on a hob essentially?

Much better to have to struggle with the fire lighting and relish in the success as a man!

Then a nice cold one!

Although no the biggest fan of bbq's weber are the best not so keen on gas

We have cooked a lovely lamb joint for a New Year's Eve meal before tasted delisious

if you want salmonella sausages or botchulism in a bun then BBQ's are the way to go.

What is it with men that dont cook all year (or want to) then when a rusty tin is set alight think they know how to cook raw meat safely:rofl:

Can't beat a bit generalisation can you

Most of the men that I know share the cooking with their OH

Cooking meat isn't "rocket science"

which is why you get so many issues with the non cooks-

nice generalisation by you also:mmm:

Where did I generalise ?

"So many issues" ?!

BBQ are enjoyment - it's sitting outside in nice weather having a bit of food and drink with friends - whilst the kids enjoy playing in the garden. It's a nice social time with a bit of salad , bangers and burgers !

sorry, no point taking time to explain to you, if you don't get it you never will:rolleyes:

I'm with Liverpoolphil on this one
Real men cook these days, not just on bbq's but also normally,
I cook at least 4 times a week, it's a normal part of family life,

But a BBQ is special, it's the closest most blokes get to cooking outdoors, which is a primeval throwback,
I'm lucky, I'm a scout leader so it's second nature to me.

Having family or a few mates around, summers day , some tinnies, recipe for a great day .

Enjoy

Men have cooked for years not just the "real men" of nowadays, and many of us six or seven days a week.

Many of you, I know, love barbecues but equally some of us most certainly do not.

Each to their own!

I completely agree!

I actually enjoy having people over and cooking for them. Sometimes I even do the laundry and clean!
