What is it with some people?

I would have reported her for shouting on the golf course
If its who I think it is, she shouts in the clubhouse, never mind on the course.
Bit seriously, If I'm on my own I will often take two balls off some tees (Par 4s and 5s) and although I won't play a full pitching shot onto greens, will also 'practise' some chip and run shots from off the green on some holes. I can't see a problem, so long as you're not causing any 'extra' damage to the course and there's no one behind who's game you're having any impact on

Hawkeye .. if it happens again .. just look at her go ..i know i know & thats what i told them but these (change tone & raise hands to head) voises in my head keep saying play another bal play another ball & the only way to stop the voices (shout) is to play another ball .. i cant dissapoint the voices or they wont do away ..

Bet she wont aproach you again mate ;)

I'd have said.... "Yes madam point taken, however unlike you I repair all my pitckmarks!" then let her deal with the pro if she felt like I'd made a false accusation :p

We are allowed to play two balls out on the course, but no more. I often ignore his.

To me, no practicing on the course means not emptying 100 balls into a bunker. Playing three or four balls isn't practicing. This is not how I practice anything. to practice, I hit hundreds of balls, not 3 or 4.

Right, really, what is it with some people? Today I had a playing lesson withe pro during which he drove me round in a buggy. We only managed 8 holes in our time slot due to a pretty clogged course (captains cup weekend), but there was. I one following so we took our time. After we finished the 8 holes and made it back to the club house, he let me keep the buggy for the back nine as I had to wait for my son suing somewhere ahead of me to finish his match. All well and good except there was no way I as getting through the 4 ball. With that in mind I went back to the first to replay the front nine as it was fairly empty late on. Drove past a couple playing off the first tee as I made my way over. Caught them up by the second, but no way they were letting me through. Not a problem, I was just practicing some of the stuff we covered in the lesson. The couple in front were the pastady captain and her husband. When I got to 4th tee they hadn't reached the green, I could see no one playing the fifth so I scooted across. It's a par 5 a d I joined it at the second shot leaving a big gap between me and the couple. I played on. Coming off the 6th way ahead of the couple now, I was closing in on another 2 ball when a friend of mine playing a cour of practice holes waved me down and asked if he could at 7,8 & 9 with me. I didn't see an issue since u was way in fri t of one. Kill and pushing down on the others. All well and good unt
Il we are playing 9 and we crossed paths with the couple behind me playing 8. I nod and Smile as I'm
Passing but the guy just says "you're all over the place today!". I said that to save me putting any pressure on the two of you I jumped across. " yes, but now you're playing with someone else!" he says. I'm. It sure what his gripe was because at no time did I/ we hold them up. It wasnt like I Played through them and made them wait at any point, it wasn't peak time on the course by then. Was he really just upset that I was no longer waiting on every shot behind them ...?

So what is playing on your own if it isn't practicing?

If you ask me, those of us who go out on our own to practice are more likely to replace divots and pitch marks than those who moan about us practicing. I really don't see how me hitting three balls from different yardages, which I have done in the past, would do any more damage than a 3 ball.

It's playing golf against the course. That's what we do unless it's matchplay.

Remind me never to write such a long post on an iPhone ever again.....

Do you have a 'no practice swings on the tee rule'? If so, shout at her mid shot when you next see her.

In fairness, she was probably showing off to her partners, something to talk about in the club house. Bet she was really proud of herself.. probably made her feel really good.

I think we have certain rules that exist losely just incase things get out of hand. In this case there is no problem. But a 3 ball playing 2 balls each with people behind, that would be silly.

As with all walks of life, apply common sense and there is no issue.

Keep practicing!

nail on head !! without rules people take the piss but common sense should prevail

May as well break the rules in style.Tell her to do one, you weren't holding anyone back and you were taking care of your pitch marks etc

That gave me a headache reading that!

Tell her to keep her mind on her own game. I hate it when an idiot gets uppety and thinks they have a devine right to interfere in other peoples games. I hope she was so aggitated that she had a shocker on the 18th!
