What makes you think short hitters don't practice?
I wouldnt change / restrictanything . . .
I don't know if this is true, but i read recently that the average handicap 30 years ago was 17, and the average handicap today . . . . .yip you guessed it 17.
I am waiting for Freddie to come along and say that that only penalises the long hitters, so you need to add in some shorter bunkers too, for the short hitters, and some pink ones for the ladies.
I actually think they should reverse the rough. Cut the rough to leave two narrow fairways at the edges, and then grow the fairways to make rough. This will reward those skillful enough to slice and hook, and penalise those who just hit it straight (which has to be easier?).

If you continued down this road (rough), would you then have greens that are now rough and rough around the greens, now greens?![]()
