I still think that better media coverage (tv, newspapers etc not necessarily live coverage) would be part of the way to increase female participation in sport, although I can understand the broadcasters reluctance if the audience is initially pretty low.... Hence the chicken and egg situation.
Anyone who didn't want to watch could maybe tune into one of their 400-odd other channels for a wee while rather than simply dismissing the idea out of hand.
