What do you obsess over?

I always set an alarm so I’m early for everything. Bloody military timing has be obsessed with not being late 🤣

That being said if that were to ever happen I still wait will the time ticks over to the 0 or 5. If I’m already late 2 or 3 mins more isn’t going to matter.
What happens if your tee time is 11.12?
Do you refuse to tee off before 11.15 🤣

I’d probably get up at 08:00, brekkie, drive to club for about 09:00. Partake in a coffee, start hitting a few balls and warm up at 10:00, off to the putting green for 10:40, have stretch and be on the tee by 11:05 latest. 😏

I can do anything at anytime except getting out of bed. Plus I’d be nice and early ready to tee off at 11:12 perfectly warmed up to shank in by 11:13 🤣

Ok I'm going to share my weird quirk. Regularly through the day I'll hear a phrase and then I'll start to spell it out in my head trying to break it into equal numbers of letters. I'll start with two, then three and then will probably count the letters to establish if it is divisible in even groups. Spaces don't count. Apostrophes do. I've done it for as long as I can remember.

As lo ng as Ic an re me mb er.

I can see the tyre pressure values of each individual tyre on my speedo display. I wasn't aware of this until recently but now I find I'm obsessing about getting the pressure levels bang on each time I'm driving. Inevitably one tyre will be marginally out, maybe due to being in the sun or the shade, but I find that slightly annoying. It's important to check pressures but I'm being overly sensitive about this.

So, what do other people obsess over that is slightly irrational or excessive?
Is it affecting your blood pressure

Mrs M has just pointed out one of my weird obsessions/traits that I never realised but is absolutely spot on.

I can’t get out of bed unless the time ends with a 0 or a 5! 06:00am fine 06:05, 06:10, 06:15 etc absolutely no problem. But it it’s any other digits that don’t end 0 or 5, I won’t get out of bed. I know it’s weird but I will literally lay there an extra 60seconds till the time ticks over 🤣
I have a similar issue with tv remote. The volume has to end with a 5 or a 0 even to the point of telling my wife to adjust it accordingly. She thinks I am an obsessive about a lot of other things too.

My left leg has seniority over my right leg.
Underpants, socks, trousers, shoes are all left leg first.
The usual kitchen roll and toilet rules apply.
Kitchen roll stacks vertically so has to face right. Toilet roll has to come over the top to the front. I'll remove them and put them back properly if not.
The dishwasher. If my wife stacks it and I open the door I'll inevitably cry "Nooooo!"
Bowls in with plates, big plates and little plates randomly mixed up. Knives and forks sticking up and down. Out it all comes and back in it goes "properly".
Mrs R.
At the side of my armchair I keep the smaller of a pair of nesting tables. On it are probably my current book, newspaper and two pens. As soon as I'm out it's cleared. Book, newspaper under the coffee table, table is shoved back under the larger one and pens are placed behind the framed photograph so everything is "nice and tidy".
50 years and neither of us have scars.
😆🤕

My sole obsessionnis to beat @Imurg
It doesn’t matter at what.

Beat him in our society meet last week

It’s all that matters
If he dies before me, then I’m screwed

He probably has the same obsession in reverse

As Kenny Everett would say

Brother Lee Love 🤭😎😎
Nah..I'm comfortable.........😎

Well, first answer is the boring one - you only need to look at my post count to figure it out. First thing I do in the office on Monday mornings isn't to check my emails, it's opening my Excel documents to record my score and stats from my weekend golf round. I'll then check my calendar to see which day I'm playing the following weekend. When I went looking for a golf forum back in 2017, it was because I wanted to talk about golf all day every day and my mates on WhatsApp weren't that interested. 😅

Since others have been going down the habits/OCD route as well, I have another one in that vein. It's hard to explain but I'm constantly rubbing the skin off my lips. When I haven't done it for a while, it almost feels like there's a kind of 'film' on them that I need to get off. When my lips are dry and you get that dead skin on there, I can't wait to get that off. Often I go too far with it and they end up bleeding but I still can't stop doing it. Don't remember how it started, I think I've been doing it since childhood.

There's a difference between obsessions and habits. Obsessions can get in the way of functioning normally.

One thing I do that some people might consider mild OCD is that square coasters need to be aligned square on the table. If they aren't, it's not the end of the world. I will straighten them if possible, but won't have a breakdown if I can't. Is that a habit or an obsession?
We have patterned placemats and coasters....I try to align the patterns between the two when I set the table. If someone else sets the table and doesnt match the pads up, i will go round and do it....drives the missus mad.

Always right shoe on first. If I pick up the left shoe, I put it back down and pick up the right one.

Are you right footed in general? I am and usually I always favour that foot first when I'm putting on socks and shoes, first leg through a pair of trousers etc. Really not sure why, maybe it's a natural dominance thing rather than full blown OCD 🤷‍♂️🤣

Agreed - I also do right leg/foot first in everything, it feels wrong/backwards to do left first. But I just thought that was because I'm right-footed.

Left footed - played left back close on 30 years. Predominantly right handed but there are several things I do left handed, e.g. snooker & dealing cards. But not ambidextrous, i.e. those thing I do left handed I can’t do right handed.
