What defines a good round to you?

Hitting it well and giving myself a chance to score well. I might not always score well but if I give myself a chance that's all I can ask for.

Good company and decent weather first and foremost. Ive had some good rounds with people whose company I didnt enjoy and didnt enjoy the day, and Ive absolutely hacked yet had a great time on a good course with pals.

Enjoying myself and playing reasonably (i.e. not hitting it 20 yards with every shot) is as far as it gets for me.

I'm playing golf to relax and switch off from the usual life of work/kids/home so as long as I'm not playing with idiots I'm quite happy.

Played a couple of weeks ago and 2 of my partners were throwing clubs/bags/balls around the place and effing and blinding cos they were so wound up!! If I ever got like that in a round I'd sell all my gear and pack it in.

Yeah the club throwing thing happened to me once and I realised I must have looked as big of an idiot as I felt and have never done it again. To be fair I was playing with the biggest ass hole you will ever meet and ashamed to say he got under my skin.

I would be a little hard on myself, two scenarios would have me happy walking off the 18th.
Either under handicap or pulling a round from the brink after a bad start. Anything less than handicap and I feel I havent given it my best.

The quality of the ball striking and the company. I'm not scoring well at the moment and so not putting too much pressure on myself to try and play to handicap and just waiting and believing it'll click sooner rather than later

The majority of my rounds are played with good company, but i wouldn't mind occasionally playing with a couple of tossers if it meant winning a big comp. ;) ;)

Scoring well? Good company? Weather?

All these for sure. I can enjoy a game without scoring to my h'cap, as long as I haven't wasted shots/done stupid things.

I've said it before, but I'd happily go round with 18 bogeys, but if I played (say) to 16 with too many doubles, that would annoy me.

And this Dave is why I am so frustrated. Throwing so many silly shots away. Missing greens from 100 yards, unforced errors, 3 putts etc. The ball striking is actually very good at the moment but I can't put a score together. I think I'd take an ugly nett par right now rather than a well struck missed buffer

Knowing I've given it my best shot on the day - some days it works, some it doesn't but at least if I've given everything I have then I'm happy.

Slashing the handicap and winning works too though....

Good company and turning up with at least half a swing

I hate looking like a chopper but it's happening all too often now... stoopid feckin' game anyway! :( :D
