Following on from the 'brand loyalty' thread just wondered if there is any brand's you would not put into play.

For me it would be Mizuno reason being they bang on about being forged this and forged that yet most companies offer equally as good forged irons.Other than them i pretty open to what i would play

You are a numpty. Most companies do not offer forged irons of any quality, let alone as many models or as good as Mizuno. I am glad you don't play them. You would dilute the brand if you did.

You probably think your Vokeys are forged. They aren't.

This is not a slag-off of TaylorMade at all. I'm sure they're good for some people.

But.

In every part of life there is a brand that I call the default brand. Like Vauxhall cars - probably quite good. But if people don't know which brand of car they want but they want small family size - they'll buy an Astra!

I've always felt the same about TM. The default brand for those who don't really know what they want.

If it worked for me I'd play with absolutely anything regardless of how "embarassing" the make was.

A driver by Britney Spears?
3 wood by Dale Whinton?
Irons by Dafydd (The only gay in the village)?
Putter by Stevie Wonder?

Wouldn't care, laugh at me and my clubs after I've drubbed you 7&6, "nice shiny blades you have there btw!" :D

Funny you should say that. :eek:

I like most brands but seem to look at Taylor Made last. Having said that, I often have 3 of their clubs in my bag. (3 wood, GW and putter). All bought at about 40% of the original price. Maybe that's the reason???

I'm signed up at Ralph Maltby's site (and forum) and it amazes me how poorly TM irons seem to score on the MPF charts. Given the hype behind the products, I don't believe a word of it any more.

Harsh :)

I just dont like them they have a funny looking scoop between the hosel and the topline and feel dead when hit but then again i would rarely hit the sweetspot :)

Vokey's are cast but they are heavy and feel nice much better then my previous Mizuno raw blacks by a long shot.

Plus my girlfriend plays Mizzys so would not play them for free :D

Depends on whose paying me!!

I'd try most things, prefer the Mizzys, but for some reason avoid TM, as mentioned earlier it does seem to be the 'default' brand. I don't know why, but do the Pros push it more at some golf clubs than other brands. I just always get the feeling that when ever I start looking at clubs, bith the Pro shop and the local NB and AG always seem to push me towards a TM bargin. Could it be something to do with their high new product introduction rate, and retailers / TM need to move on the so called out of date stuff. I dunno??

It's a shame really as it was the TM TP irons that I tried last summer on a demo day that got me thinking about playing with less offset clubs. Ah well.

PING. Do I need to explain why?

You aren't good enough to justify it? :rolleyes:

Are You? :o Bit confused from that reply from someone with no Ping gear in their bag. However, equally ugly and HUGE irons.

* MD Superstrong 12*
* Fazer 3W
* Cleveland Launcher 18* hybrid
* RAM 21* hybrid
* Cobra S2 Max 5i-SW
* Mizuno MP T series 47*
* Dunlop 60*
* Odyssey White Hot XG #1

I would play most things if they did the job!
I have a varied bag, so I have no brand loyalty, if I change something I try most things to see what feels best, they also have to look good at address, for me it just helps inspire confidence.
I wouldnt say that tm are a default choice, I think some people like the fact the release so much gear, it means that they get good equipment for a decent price(if they just wait 6 months). I had rac ltII irons for 2 years and they were fantastic for me, when I changed them the tp's felt best and had the best flight for me from the selection available, so I went for them, I would have took the s57's if I had another chance as it was only a month later I got to try them!!

I just replaced my Ping Eye 2s with my "ugly and HUGE irons. :D

I'm rubbish, I need spades to get a decent strike.

I would not normally go for Taylormade as I do not like the fact that they release a new 'improved' model every few months. That said, their putters seem to suit me and I have a Fontana in my bag and am desperate to give the new Ghost a try.

As for the 'budget' brands, would not go for either of the two pushed by the main retailers (Niklaus and Letters) and for some reason I stay away from Ram clubs. They may be OK but I have always liked Benross and MD so go for them first.

I wouldnt play Callaway. I think that their recent offerings (last 2 years) are very poor indeed.

I also wouldnt play Nike, ever, never. Simply because I hate Arsenal and Nike are a major sponsor of theirs. Pig-Headed I know but if you were Park-Lane Tottenham like me, you would understand!

I won't touch Callaway again. There clubs are bigger and uglier than Ping and even the X prototype doesn't look as sleek as many of the Mizuno, TM ranges etc.

I would look at Mizuno as there are some nice models with a thin top line and forgiveness without needing to resort to a blade. Not sure I'd touch Titleist especially the AP 1 and 2 (again heavy top line) and I'm not good enough for their blades. One make I won't touch is Nike. I don't think any of their club are a patch on other comparable models out there

I just cant seem to put Nike and golf clubs together.....They just dont look right....Clothes yes but clubs NO.
Also callaway and TM.....i just dont see the point in releasing som many clubs over 12 months....there trying to rob people... :mad:
And as regards the OP....I think that the description of Mizuno is way off.....One thing about mizzy's is they do feel sweet....My dad plays them and my younger brother plays them.....They are like butter to hit....I could have changed to these instead of my cobra's but i opted for something that isnt so popular just for a change...They didnt disappoint.....

Anything really, but I really like Macgregor...

I used to hate ping until I tried the G10...

I thought I wouldn't even touch TM until I got hold of my Itsy bitsy spider...

I really do like Mizuno so I dunno what you lot are throwing mud at miz for...

Cobra, I haven't seen those S2's, but they look alright in the adds...
