What are you looking at improving?

Consistency. I can go on a really decent run of holes, then throw in 2 or 3 real shockers. Sadly it can happen any time in the round, so I can't even blame it on a poor warm up or tiredness at the end of a round.

yep - me too

it can be absolutely any shot, at any time, and the general result is 14 pars/birdies and 4 bogey/double/triples...

short game. chipping and putting can always improve. best way to lower the scores.

i just want to keep my drives in play and ill be fine!

ive bought a low lauch aldila rip red eyes shaft for my driver to see if i can keep it a touch lower and on the short stuff. just a trail really. only used it at the range one cold night. it needs some course comparision to the stock shaft i have already.

My swing is my main improvement which is why im in the middle of lessons.....Once that improves i think the rest will take care of itself.....

Driving 4 (accuracuy) 20 (distance)
faiway woods 28
long irons 24
short 18
short game 14
putting 20, not sure how all this can be right mind you, play off 18 and been playing to 15 last few months

My driving and putting is definatley much lower than my handicap. Short game isnt bad but not great, need to concentrate on hitting the ball closer because it doesnt matter how good you are at putting if your miles away from the flag!

I do feel like all parts of my game are slowly improving bit by bit. Just need to get on the damn course to put it all into practice!!

Interesting how some people are looking at improving their driving to knock some shots off. Is it not better to master the scoring end of the game then work your way back? I feel that my ball striking is really good (even if my swing does not look the prettiest:swing:) but it is no good getting it there if you can't then put it in the hole and I think I am a perfect example of this. But then again I suppose if your ball striking is that bad it takes you too many to get there, it does not matter if you one putt every green.

My point is as club golfers we do not have lots of time to practice so maybe can't practice everything we want to. So do we master one area before moving onto another, or do we try and develop all areas of the game together and improve each area equally?

Have been rebuilding my swing over the winter and the lack of course being open has helped as it's made me commit to hitting the range to put the time in.

I'm doing it to improve my overall game to build in conisistency of a repeatable swing to tighten up my overall scores. As with my swing before I could go low, but equally the other way and a bad round was a real shocker because my control of the ball and action were not consistent enough.

Other than that 100% looking for an improvement my putting, especially considering my PB round is a 73 yet i've never had less than 30 putts in any one round of golf.

The last bit is my course management and working out how to play a hole not after i've hit the tee shot, but to actually stand on a tee a work from the flag backwards by asking myself wheres the best place to be able to get at the flag from. Rather than aiming just down the middle and having to then work it out afterwards.

Technically the components are in place but I just need to spend more time on and around the greens. They made some major changes to our practice area and it's not reopening till the spring. Till then hitting either full PWs or practising pitching distance control and as mentioned before lots of work on my core...

Just looked at my stats for a recent stapleford comp.

I took 34 putts on 16 holes (other 2 i NR'd)

And scored 37 points. If i took 30 putts a round on that performance i'd be playing off 6

The trouble is i don't enjoy putting, if only i could find away to make it interstesting or even exciting

try thinking about it this way - everything else on the course is foreplay, and the only thing your playing partners are really impressed by is good putting.....

I know what you mean and I am sure we can all save shots around the green and from your posts it seems you are decent driver of the ball but if you were a high handicapper then working on your driving is the way to go. I have said before that I have got down to single figures with a terrible short game. Golf is no fun when you spend half your time looks for your ball in the cabbage.
