Celtic have just effectively been given a bye to the group stage of the champions league with this draw. ;)

Joking apart I think we will only win by the odd goal over the 2 legs. ;)

It wasn't the draw I would have wanted, but Arsenal will shade it. They have too much firepower for Celtic (unless we keep on selling players and not replacing them).

Maybe this will demonstrate once and for all that Rangers and Celtic would not make the top 4 in the prem, like some seem to think.

I think Aresenal will shade it over the two legs. We destroyed Rangers in the Emirates cup (friendly I know) and I watched the second half of the Celtic match the other night and yes it was a good result but they were the least shocking of two poor teams. The Celtic midfield was pants they will get overrun by Arsenal providing we have some fit players left by then.
Get out the chequebook Arsene.

Murph the 'we will be top 4' comes from people believing that is where we would be after say 3 or 4 seasons in the EPL....I firmly believe that we would indeed be at least top 6 once we had the cash injections being in that league would bring and the knock on effect this would bring like better players being attracted to the club etc, people I don't think realise what huge huge clubs both Celtic and the scum are.I don't think anyone thinks we would waltz straight in at top 4 with the squad we have at our disposal which is very weak in comparison to the current top 4,I mean we are getting outbid by championship teams at the moment due to the paltry cash sums available to us in Scottish football!

Having said that I do think this will be a very closely contested tie and a lot closer than most saverners would like to think.

Destroyed rangers? I was at the emirates for the game and we could have had 4 in the second half easy. Although, admittedly you did play us off the park in the first half....it's usually what happens when lafferty is played on his own up front.

Overall, I think Arsenal were the better team and deserving of victory, but I think the scoreline was certainly flattering

Yes admittedly Rangers were a lot better in second half but that is what tends to happen when a match is over by half time

But obviously as SPL champions you are a much better team than Celtic!!!

Will be a cracking couple of matches. I remember a few years back when celtic had Barcelona in the chumpions league and beat them. They seem to raise themselves for the bigger european games and i reckon there'll only be one goal in it. wouldn't like to call it either way.

remember, the best footballing side doesn't always win!

Think Arsenal are in for a bit of a shock. No way they will win at Parkhead (Man U will testify to that) and Celtic will shut up shop at the Emirates. So all you Gunners, enjoy the Champions League on the telly!

The old firm would struggle to remain in the premier league long enough to accumulate enough money to buy a squad that would be competitive. They would have to do it in the WBA style by yo-yoing between leagues.

The Arsenal game will be like minnows playing in the FA cup, they will run around and try to upset Arsenal and if that doesn't work then watch out because the flood gates will open!! 5-1 Arsenal on aggregate.

Utter utter nonsence coming I suggest from an englishman who knows nothing about football outside the self proclaimed best league in the world...

Arsenal could easily trip up on this fixture. However, if they get their game together in the first 20 minutes at Celtic, then the result could be embarassing for Celtic. If it comes to the last 20 at the emirates, we are in trouble.

I think over two legs Arsenal will be too strong but I think it will only be by the odd goal on aggregate. I'm just wondering how the mighty Fulham army are going to get to Russia to cheer the boys on in the Europa league qualifier

Having played, managed & coached in both the pro game & semi pro game for the past 23 yrs then I'd probably say I'm in an okay position to comment. You don't have to agree with me as it is all about opinions, however I wouldn't belittle your views however misguided I think they may be.

I stand by my opinion that neither Celtic or Rangers would find it easy to survive in the Prem and one season's money would not be enough for them to build sufficiently.

Hardly the "self proclaimed" best league in the world is it?? Providing the majority of clubs in the quarter & semi finals & finals of the recent champions league would show that it's not all that bad a league really.

I'm a Celt fan and was pretty gutted when I heard, it'll be such a tough tie. I think both teams should be in the champions league so personally I find the qualification method a bit flawed!!

I reckon if Celtic keep a clean sheet at home and score a goal or two we have a chance, if not it may be embarassing. People on this forum do seem to forget that we have beaten numerous premier league clubs over the last numerous years (Blackburn, Liverpool, Man Utd) so Celtic do turn it on when it matters. Here's hoping then!

On their day, on form, Arsenal can destroy any team in the world in the first 20 minutes.

But if a battling side can keep a clean sheet over that period and then start physically dominating them, the tide has often turned in the past.

Also, so early in the season, new partnerships haven't been grooved etc, so there is more variabilty there as well.

I think a lot will be dependant on how combative Arsene is willing to make the Arsenal midfield. In recent years ( since Viera went ) he has preferred smaller, skillfull players, rather than the idea of giving Fabrigas a minder. It has proven to work against continental sides, and against top English sides who are willing to play football.

But it has failed too often against Bolton, Stoke, Hull etc who don't want to play Arsene's game, they just want to get to the final score and see Arsenal 0.

Celtic can't outplay Arsenal, but that doesn't mean they can't beat them.

I think this game will set the store out for the whole of Arsenal's season. If Arsenal manage to win a battle and get through, then the sky is the limit for this side.

Otherwise it's going to be a long season trying to finish in 3rd or 4th spot again, only this time with Villa and City becoming more competitive.

No pressure there then
