What a shocking BBC sports personality of the year.

I'm not sure why folk are surprised Tommo,it has been pish for years.

As I have said in the other thread the beeb don't show much sport but what they do show they make it utterly dull.

And the lack of the greatman is unforgivable.

He had more talent in his toenail than the rest of them put together yet they did nothing to remember him.

The BBC are a total joke.

Where was he hook to yank cavendish off the stage? Sports personality of the year? Now that is irony!
Last time I felt that uncomfortable I was sat in the doctors with some mad oap telling me about his swollen spuds in front of a packed waiting room.

I have to say, whatever his achievements Mark Cavendish is in no way a "personality"
He looked embarrassed to win. Surely as one of the front runners to win the award I would have thought he may have prepared a speech of some description.

Darren Clarke, definitely a personality. Full of "the craic", witty and is also well known to like a jar or two. Worthy runner up.
Luke Donald, awesome achievements this season, made history, but ............... a very quiet guy in the sports world. Maybe his undoing?

What I can't understand is why Luke took a trans-atlantic flight over to attend.

If it had been me I'd have sat on my arse at home rather than attend that farcial ceremony.

I actually think the 'Personality' bit in the title is a bit of a misnomer, I doubt it was ever meant to be about the personality of the individuals, Sports Person of the Year would be a far more accurate description.

Cav's achievements are very worthy, watch a mountain stage of the tour and see the guy genuinely suffering for a couple of hours with a domestique spinning alongside him trying to cagole him up the mountain, mental toughness on a different level to that which most of us can muster.

Feel a bit sorry for Luke, any other year and he would have walked it withy what he's done on both tours, but I think the golfing vote being diluted pretty much guaranteed it went to Cav.

Seen parts of it switching between that, the footbal and family guy.

Did Steve Kean get coach of the year - he must have been in the running for it?

Not surprised Darren featured in the prizes but don't agree that 4 good days is more achievement than what Luke has done over the course of the season. Sentiment over overall achievement. Yes, it's the pinnacle of Darren's career but thats a Lifetime achievement award then is it not?

Unreal, Luke Donald's achievements will not be matched for a very long time. Fair play to Darren Clarke, a great "personality" and the clip with his boys made my Misses cry, makes a change from me having the honour!!
