Booked myself a course of 5 lessons and had my first with the club pro last night. We focused on my irons as my driving is pretty good right now.

He's got me swinging round my body and let the turn drive the club. Rather than my usual all arms and shoulders swing. And now I've got a nice little draw to my shots

And boy, what a difference it's made. :D

I wasn't expecting much from this mornings round with the change in my swing, but it seems to have taken quickly.

I shot the my best round yet, 91, and if it wasn't for some dreadful putting (41 putts) I'd have easily broken the 90.

So I guess next weeks lesson will be with the putter then :)

I just can't wait, I wanna get out and play again.

Good man. My short game was coming on well after a few lessons but has taken a step backwards. I'm hoping a few pointers the pro gave me today will work tomorrow. I'm actually swinging quite well but not scoring. Its good when a lesson pays off. The trick is remembering what you were told and putting it into practice.

I definitely think a putting lesson is needed as 41 is pretty shocking and must cripple your card everytime. It sound like you are getting the ball round ok but can't capitalise on the greens. Once you get the putting sorted your scores will tumble

It was a bit odd yesterday as my putting in general has been ok. I've been averaging less that 2 putts a hole, usually 30-31 putts for the round. Last 2 rounds have been over 2 putts a hole.

Not sure what's changed. Probably something to do with the greens getting quicker now it's warming up.

Actually thinking about it, my line did seem ok most of the time and it was my distance that was my problem.

Ah, well, something to work on :)

Could be with your new found iron accuracy that youre hitting more greens than before , and this generally equates to more putts unless youre knocking it next to the pin.

Could well be part of it jammy.

tbh, my putting was pretty shocking this weekend, missed a lot of 2-3 footers that I'd 'usually' make.

And left a lot of 15-20 footers well short.

I just can't wait for a round where it all clicks together.

Maybe this weekend :D
